Got my new ABS card yesterday and rang local dealer to check that they stocked a new battery.
I was told they had and he quoted me £80 plus. I asked about Trade Club price and got " ooo are yaa ? " in reply. Told him I was a private customer and he laughed. Told him that I had an ABS card and asked would he accept it. He replied " you can try "
I needed a battery urgently, so I went along to the dealer and bought it. They looked at the ABS card as if it was covered in sh**. I pointed out to the parts manager, the conversation I'd had with a named member of staff and he simply shrugged his shoulders, saying " well you've bought it now, nobody is twisting your arm to come here "
Business must be booming. I'll never use them again.

Put a formal complaint into Vx, the paper work alone they will have to complete will allow you to have a rye smile :y

I find that they're rude and miserable even when you try to be friendly and polite. They must be pissed off with their lot, still, who wouldn't be working in a sterile bland place like a dealers?

There are two lads on the parts desk at 'my' dealer. The manager - younger of the two - is amiable & talkative. The other is a miserable barsteward. It seems that it's an effort to walk round to the public desk, even the rest of the staff comment about how miserable he is.

I'm afraid it seems that this is typical of all Vxl dealerships nowadays. In fact, I'm sure it's not only Vxl. :(
The only Vxl parts person I have ever met that is a thoroughly decent bloke is AndyC, which is why I drive past 2 other Vxl dealers on my way to see him. :y

Exactly! If only I could persuade him to move to the proper Bury! ;D ;D ;D

You are probably better off having to deal with Andy over the phone, and get bits posted to you. A couple of times I've popped in without phoning ahead, only to find it's Andy's day off and I have to deal with his colleague...
Well... I refer you to the comments above!! ::)

Agreed. :y This is what I do every time now, rather than go to the local stealer and yet again have to blag TC prices, and again explain the whole AutobahnStormers setup, and for them to have to drag the manager out again to authorise it.... (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26795734/Smilies/bangshead.gif)

I do the same. I drive a 100+ mile round trip to visit andyc instead of getting an ABS card and arguing at the local(er) dealers ::)
Andy has supplied the wrong parts to me before, although not his fault because he can only go by what the system is telling him, returning/exchanging is never a problem ;) Does manage to get us some very good deals too :y :y :y

Funnily enough I dont have any problem with any of the parts staff at the dealers in Melton.
Now the ones in Nottingham, thats a whole different story!
Trouble is these days that the people working in these places are on whole not the brightest.....and the big chains are the worst!

I placed a big order with Andy back in June for a load of oil and service items. To save me to cost of postage or petrol to collect them, he loaded it all into his own car and brought it along to Billing for me!! Now that is one hell of a service!! :y
A genuine Vxl enthusiast, with a superb knowledge of Vxl's and a top bloke aswell!! 8) :y

Another vote here for AndyC, got great price on set of cam cover gaskets for MotherT's 3.0.
My local place in Banbury (local to my parents) is quite good, know me by name now don't have to show any TC cards, just ring up order parts and collect, never had any issues.

That's the difference! When parts are 'NLS' - Andy is prepared to look over to mainland Europe for Opel parts rather than fob you off like 'normal' parts dealers. :y :y

Agree that from what I've read AndyC is top guy :D :D. However I must put a plug in for my local VX parts dept who are always very helpful, and that includes the parts manager!! It does help of course knowing the main guy that I deal with for over 30 years and he has always given me trade prices on bits and will match TC prices without a card being presented. His colleagues also know me and they do the same. One reason why I have always bought Vauxhalls since 1965!! :) :) :)
