hi
I'm new on this site I have owned my Omega from new and do most of the repair on it myself.
My climate control has started running cold.
Once the engine has warmed up the fan does not appear to work unless I turn it to either high or low. Where ever it is it does not get hot.
When turning the auto switch on or off you can hear a noise I assume it a selenod opening & closing
If the demiser is turn on the fan works but again no hot air.
Any help would be much appreciated

You could try synchronising first, switch ignition on, press and hold Auto and Off at the same time, and hold for about 20 seconds.

Are you saying that your climate fan is either off or full speed but nothing in between?
IIRC this is usually a sign of the fan speed controller failing.
The fan speed controller looks a bit like a hedgehog and is situated in the air duct behind the glove box. If the drain holes in the scuttle get blocked water finds its way into the ventilation duct and can cause its demise (as well as filling the passenger footwell with water).

No I believe the fan is okay When I use the dimister I can ajust the fan speed okay
Will have a look to see if the scuttle drain is blocked

Does the outside temperature display give a sensible reading? or does it read 'F'

Think I have worked it out.
It's either the heater matrix blocked or the valve that lets the hot water flow into the matrix thats not working.
I realised this morning (drove 26miles in the cold) that the blower does not start working until the heater has got warm.
When I stopped I checked the heater pipes and they were cold. I'am going to change the valve first as I think it is more likely that as the heater stopped working suddenly. I think if it was the matrix blocked it would have gradualy got cooler. Famous last words!!

It may sound a silly question, but is the engine coolant level topped up? If no water in radiator then heater wont work.

is the vacuum connected up? Can never remember which way the HBV works ... no vacuum - no heat or is the the other way round ??? ??? ???

The heater Bypass Valve has vacuum to the top of it & moves the valve via a diaphragm :y

no vacuum means water will run through the heater so op wants to remove vacuum pipe and see whether that makes any difference :y

OP could try sucking on the pipe to the HBV too ;)

It causes the ECU to re-learn the positioning of the servos that control the heater blending flaps. Worth a try, but no cigar in this case.
Sounds like it could be the HBV in this case, or perhaps a blocked heater matrix.
As has been said, try with the vacuum pipe removed from the HBV, as this should open the HBV. Check the HBV is plumbed the right way round. If that doesn't reveal anything, both pipes off the heater matrix connector at the bulkhead and flush it in both directions with a hose. I there's flow, try a new HBV.
