Title: slowly falling out with lpg
Post by: bigboykarl on 01 February 2012, 12:27:27
i have had 2 lpg omegas since 2009 the first one tbf never ran correctly on lpg and was bodged from fitting until daz and a lpg expert from chorley sorted it it then ran fine for 9 months and then started with the same old problems...By then I had lost patience, so early this year I bought my present car from elite pete .Its a 2.6 mv6 with a professional conversion..All was fine until november this year when it started to misfire on gas and a eng management light came on..It showed codes 300,301,303 which seems to be misfire cylinder one and three..thought coilpack so had that changed along with some new 4 core plugs and it's still missing...i'm getting to the stage where i want to sell the car and buy a old e300 /530d   and run on diesel.. :( :(

Needs a look at fuel trims perhaps?

The window of operation for LPG is much narrower than on petrol as I'm sure you know, as gas is harder to ignite. The LPG set up needs to be spot on re jet sizes, and seasonal temperatures need to be taken into account. Some more expensive kits handle this better than some cheaper ones.

And as we have seen on here so often, a professional install doesn't guarantee anything, sadly.

.. whereas our DIY conversions have all been absolutely fine. I forget mine's running on LPG at all these days.

I forget mine's running on LPG at all these days.
Except mine keep beeping 12 times, as the useless, breakwit, gay, retarded, pointless, hopeless, incompitent retards at Shell never have any fuel. Of any description. Retards. Gay rather retards.

Karl, have you PM'd Chris Gixer, Kev Wood or Lazytinker like I mentioned to you?
You work in London and so a drive to either of them may solve your problem. I hate saying this about them, and will go and wash my mouth out with soap afterwards, but they are very good lads :y

Just being sick  ;D

TBH, once you have it converted to the correct standard (read our standard, not the standard used by most professional outfits) there is very little to go wrong. The problem with Karl's sounds interesting. Unfortunately I don't have access to any software other than the Stag one so I don't know if I'd be able to do much for him. TBH, Kevin is probably the best bet because he's got the Tech 2 as well :-\

I'm more than willing to cast an eye over it if we can arrange a convenient time. Where in London?

Who makes the kit you have fitted?

Who makes the kit you have fitted?

Yep, would be good to know this for starters.  :y

Bear in mind that if the ECU detects a misfire it will shut down the cylinders with a problem until you restart the engine.

I would be looking for any kinks or splits in the pipes from the LPG injectors to the nozzles first, along with any obvious wiring problems between the LPG ECU and the injectors.

To diagnose much further needs the software to talk to the LPG ECU so individual cylinders can be swapped between petrol and LPG to work out where the misfire is. Depending on the outcome I'd swap the LPG injectors between cylinders and see if the fault follows the injector. Could be they are clogged or leaky.

I'm assuming at this point that it runs perfectly on petrol, of course.

I'm told it's a micromise kit fitted by the cambeltkid...

Never heard of them, but a quick google shows they are based in Luton - http://www.autogas-micromise.com/contact.php (http://www.autogas-micromise.com/contact.php)

Might be worth seeing if they can help, as you could possibly visit on the way down/back home :-\

Oh don't start him on that, his limited vocabulary can't cope with no gas and air fresheners at the same time, LD told me that.... :D :D :D
