I have a beautiful 2002 retail 3.2 MV6, with the recaro style leather on LPG, professionaly resprayed prodrive bumper, with a dead autobox. Otherwise perfect. Recent WIM setup and new boots all round, 900 miles ago.
I've just calculated what it's actually worth in parts, compared to it's value whlist running. I couldn't do that.... could I? :-X
Someone please kick some sense into me, make me fix the transmission, and keep this beautiful machine on the road... :-[
-
James.. Sort the box out then give it me :y
-
Petrol only, without LPG its worth more in parts. But some people would pay good money for a working example with LPG. Being a bit dead, its not going to fetch much, if it was driveable would be better, but anyone thinking of getting it would need a trailer to transport and thats going to affect its price.
How many miles does it have?

First dibs on the oil pump with relief valve, does it come with free fitting? :D

You only have to look at what Serek has just done with his...
6 months ago, on the cover of 'Straight Six News'... Now broken for parts...
If your head rules your heart, break it. If your heart rules your head, fix it. Simples!! :y

I can't bring myself to do it... and aside of the autobox it's fine, so it'll have to be repaired. Mileage 130k, only known issue is a little creak from the rear!

Thats assuming you can sell the parts. Doesnt always happen that way. ;)
If you like the car,spend £100 on a box,spend a day putting it in,jobs a goodun. :y

Fix it, or give it to me ........ ::)

Thought this was being converted to manual anyway...?

was very very tempted, only hesitation is it seems unclear how to remove the ignition timing retard on the 3.2, and I wouldn't convert without...

Worst case it's a Tech2 to config the ECU to manual job, IMHO. Comms between the gearbox and ECU is CAN on this setup, so I'd be very surprised if there was a separate retard signal, although I haven't looked.

forget about ignition retard.. I'm driving for long time without any arrangement, not seen any side effects.. other than tires cant keeping up with power.. ;D (did I say, it makes power silde 1st , 2nd and even in 3rd ::) )
and as for the cruise switch on clutch.. not that critical imo.. use the brakes.. :)
as the olds say "starting is the half of finish" ;D :y and dont break it..
at maximum your mid will show wrong values (which is already the case as it has lpg)
-
Fix it mate or first dibs on your lpg ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

By the sounds of it, with all the work you've had done wouldn't it be best to get the gearbox changed and get it back on the road. Better the devil you know than one you don't.
If you go and get another Omega, who's to say you don't end up having a host of problems to sort out on that one, not taking into account you probably wanting a WIM set up again!
And I've no doubt you'd be like this if you bought another car to find so many issues (http://planetsmilies.net/angry-smiley-1497.gif) (http://planetsmilies.net)
You know what you've done on this one, so know what items / parts won't need replacing or fixing on it. Plenty of us on here who would be tempted to kick your rear into getting the gearbox replaced. Apart from Rob who seems to be having itchy finger syndrome with his spanners ::) ;D
All I'd say is, keep thinking about it and till you are 100% sure you know what you want to do.
I can understand you're probably pee'd off with it at the moment, but you've got support from us here if you stick with it :y
-
Wack a manual box in it James, followed by a LSD when one comes up to sort out the Diff ratio.
Currently have a 3.2 Manual with LPG, great fun and economy rolled into one. ;)
-
You're all right. This car is a Gem, and it would be a crime to break it up.
I honestly believe it's one of the nicest unmolested late retail MV6's out there, and even Roger Budden would like it!
Wanted Ad put up for manual conversion parts..

Positive. I'll knock about in the Tractor for a while, and fix my MV6 at my leisure. :y
I've had this Mig one year now - second longest I've ever kept a car!

Good decision James :y It is a stunning car and deserves to be cherished for a few more years to come :y

don't suppose you fancy rolling around on the tarmac with me, and giving me a hand to heave another gearbox onto the old girl? ;D :y

That's different to rolling round in a grass field I suppose, lol. I can't see why not mate. I think I've got time off in April if your doing it around then, if not, let me know and I'll try and book some time off :y

good decision.. :y

There is a MFL 3.0 Elite saloon in Champane being sold for spares/repairs on the bay at the moment. It's in Bromsgrove and has a wont start issue. Has tax and MOT.
Buy it, get it running and then have the AR35 out of it. Then break the rest or weigh it in.
Bodywork looks ok and I'd have some panels off you as its the same colour as mine.
Just a thought - dont know how practical it would be though. ::)
