Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Not enough room

Sounds like you're having a mare mate. I am struggling a little bit with my Harman/Kardan ipod unit but sounds like I have it easy compared to you.

Good luck mate.

The Bose home systems do appear a bit naff.  The car ones are not bad at all. Certainly not the best, and definately not the most powerful for spotty 18yr olds in Corsas.  But it is normally plenty good enough for most people to make it not worth swapping out.

Obviously everyone is different, both in tastes, demands, expectations, and hearing, so choice is good :y

Personally, for me, the Bose is hard to beat based on my hearing, the system's clarity, the fact that it is not over bassed, the power is more than adequate, and the factory fit niceness.  So I am a happy boy. I was that pleased, I retro fitted it to the MV6 (the Elite having it as standard).  I've yet to see and hear an aftermarket stereo fitted to an Omega that I would be happy with.
Got to disagree with you on the home system. I have a 6 speaker Acoustimas system linked up to a Yamaha amp and a 42 inch plasma and the sound is fanbloomintastic !

My car is a different story as my CCR 2006 is knackered (cd part) and I am currently in the process of fitting a Harman/Kardam ipod system which will negate the need for the buggered cd player. The sound out of the standard speakers isn't too bad though.

the keys are slightly bigger than single din ones......

when you fit the adaptor in the back of the stereo make sure it is tucked away properly, there isn't a great deal of space and the HK unti seems to get in the way
Cheers SirJ.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / How do I get it out !!!!
« on: 05 February 2008, 16:51:19 »
Hi, tried to find the answer to this but can't.

I have a ccr2006 in my Mega and have bought a Harman/Kardan Ipod kit which I have nearly finished fitting but can't get the stereo out to finish off.

I have taken the 4 grub screws out then tried poking a long reach alen key in but no joy. Do I need special keys ? I am used to single din unit which come out dead easy so this is a tad irritating. >:(

No worries, I can fix that one for you

Mine is doing exactly the same and the small door that covers the cd magazine is broken so it wont eject. A small piece has broken off which I have.

Can this be fixed at the same time as I want to get the stereo working again.

Would this be an option??

I dont think there is a local wrecker who would have an omega lurking in their yard but I could be wrong....still need help with a workshop manual
Hi

The ebay thing is just a set of bulbs so this wont fix your pixel problem. Looks like you need a full new display unit as theae bulbs will just change the colour and not fix your problem.

Hi Guys

I have just topped up my oil this morning and the filler neck and cap is covered in mayonaise type sludge. Please can someone advise what the problem might be.

The car needs the cam cover gaskets doing and breathers cleaned so I am presuming this is the cause ? Could someone also give me an idea of cost to get the cam cover gaskets changed (including parts) so I don't get ripped off. Is it best to get this done at Vaux or does it not matter ?

Cheers

Probably the most silly question asked on here but here goes. Am I right in thinking that my 2000 X plate mega is the B model  :question I only ask as I want to get some irmscher gear for it and don't want to get the wrong stuff.
