hi all havin a bit of a problem with the redtop engine (2.5) converted to 3.0 ,evern thow i fitted new ht leads/plugs crank sensor ,the engine always fires up ,as its idioling from cold approx 1500rpm ,soon as the engine starts to get warmed up then dam thing will do a drop in revs and rev up and down ,
ive also
changed maf/checked for air leaks/another coilpack and clean and end up replaceing the dam idiol control valve , and its stil doing it ,as i can feel the revs hesitant ,and i can hear the feil pressure up and down ,which odd times it will suddernly/partly /upexspected cut out at a juntion then instantly fire back up and be ok for a while ,evern checked and wd/40 wireing plugs, dam thing still doing it any ideas,,,,

By redtop do you mean an C20 Series lump? as how can a 4 cyl EMS run a 6 Cylinder engine

or do you mean the Cavalier V6 ECU off a C25XE Engine? use the vectra v6's ecu the connectors are all the same as a C25XE also i dont see a MAF in your pic?
hi pal the inejcton system is off a calbia xe2.5 v6 redtop  ,which all changers on to the 3.0 ex ecotec engine ,as the mafs on the intake which u carnt really see in the pics

i have to laugh at this thread.. quite impressive i must say and well done you for getting a 2.5 to fit.. and run in a vw flatbed

if it'll have an ex police 70 then that is rather fast..... my volvo has a flat spot in midrange but has my mates remapped vrs at bottom end and top end lol
nice one ,(ps its a 2.5 injection with the 3.0 heads and block)well see as u mention volvo lol ,unsure which one u have , i made this too tuck me a yearh project ,i think its the only one too,, due to searching ,england, germany ,itay, austria, norway, japan etc ,and no one has done one of these ,,i fitted a complete 850 t5 turbo ,which are 5clyinder twin cam turbo charged engine and manual gearbox rica chipped 304, which i put in the rear of a type1 beetle ,i havent found anyone around were i live to catch it ,yet ,as its quicker from 70mph to 162mph then from 0 to 70mph ,rear wheel drive ,started as a scrap bug and went to town on it ,many hours of work went into too lol

I thought the standard Beetle tuneup was a 911 turbo lump ;D

haha whats the point of have a 911 porshce turbo when u can have a 420lbs of torque and a 1.5bar of boost ,to sit u back in ya seat lol :o couple of pics here

I assume you normally have a MAF sensor connected to the inlet?

Any trouble codes stored in the engine ECU?

Impressive street sleeper though. :y

I didnt think the Omega pack was that big tbh...same basic engine in the Vectra so cant see why the pattern should be any different??
wel ive tryed both coilpacks one from the early redtop and later later vectra one and non fit ,mounting wise ,so i made a plate and thow the vectra slim coil pack on ,fires up and runs the same ,grrr ,

10
ps when i change this large coil pack to the sim vectra one ,do the ht sockets still fit in the same place  if not dose anyone have a possible daigram of were the go ,,,,

I imagine thats impressive in a straight line ......  but I just wonder how bad it realy is on the windy bits ......  :)

 :y :y :y
well its not really areadymic  lol ,but its safer at a cruseing speed provideing the winds blowing in the other direction  , as i soon found that out lmao

I guess that didn't come across as I mean't ... didn't mean windy as in weather ... I mean't as in lots of corners ..... I don't see the pick up cornering too well .....  :)
opss ur right it isnt but it has its advantages its arsome for power sliding ,,, ;D

How much difference does the lightened flywheel and short gearbox make?? And how heavy is the van?
unsure tbh honst ,pick weights a ton including the engine ,(borrowed a weight bridge)  with the flywheel ,its really revy, and u have a 1st 30mph 2 ,60mp 3rd 100plus then 4th  unsure my speedo dosent go high enoegh as it hits the back of the 0 again , heres a few pics of the engine ,box and the flywheel

Well I timed that as 5.85 seconds from beginning of your foot being rattled to 60 if the speedo is right?? lol

Is that the camera shaking or the van? lol
yes the speed it right as it matchers the same size dimiter of the wheels ,only thing ,it only reads 80mph ,,,,,as i raced a ex polic t5 volvo estate and left it lmao ,,, ;D
,ps it dose wheelies too lmao

Now that is incredible! One of the best sleepers ive seen!!!!!!

Imagine being sat on a dual carriage way at 70-80 in your 3.0 elite when suddenly a 19somthing vw flatbed rips past with induction roar that will suck a pidgeon dead at 20ft.

Fantastic, and fair play.............Oh and uhhhhh Try lambda sensors, they do such wierd things when they play up!
nice one guys ,ill adapt one of these coilpack then as i know these are new ,so that will sort that little problem ,ps uve a point there as mines never been changed and i removed it 2day and it sooty black in colour evern when the vechicals been a 10mile run ,//as i thought these should be white in colour/unless its because ive no cat in mine (not needed for the mot ,,,) yes yes ur pal ,it eats scoobys ,,thats something u carnt really do in a auto omega lmao ,i evern added a lighternd flywheel short ratio 4 speed gearbox which still pulls over 100 in 3rd ,,heres a video ,,dont laugh
http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=rc3ott
ps ive more sleepers that im doing too lmao,,,,,
