Just come across this: Link removed - looks to be a non legal copy of copyrighted material

Seems to say it covers the later facelift although I didn't think they still made it in 2010.  ;)

From a facelift point of view, anyone able to comment? I was hoping to get the wiring diagrams out of it.

Cheers,

J

Some weeks ago my central locking gave up the ghost. Last night my courtesy light did the same. Most odd, considering there are 4 bulbs in there (the map reading lights don't work either). Everything else seems fine. Swapped the fuse with another in the fusebox but no change. Oddly the door courtesy lights still work. Clearly something somewhere is shorting out but how do I find out where it is? More importantly, how come only parts of the circuit seem to be affected? All very strange!

General Car Chat / Tuning
« on: 06 April 2012, 12:03:23 »

It occurs to me that as the car ages the car management system might benefit from some tuning?

Anyone have any idea how much difference it would make to bung it on a rolling road and tune it? Or how much it might cost?

Anyone on here tried it? Improved mpg / power?

Cheers,

J

Had the drivers kick panel off this morning looking for the CLCU. What I found was a black Megamos box that looks like the alarm? Is that the alarm and central locking unit? It had a part-number of 24 443 645 LT written on it.

Confused because I rang the Stealers to confirm the part number and with my chassis number they said it should either be 24 411 994 DB (£315!) or 112 867 LT (£385!). Am I looking at the right thing or should I have delved deeper?

Can anyone shed any light on my confusion before I start trawling through Fleabay etc.? Cheers.

The story so far ...

Last night my car refused to lock. The indicators flash but the central locking was dead. Manually locking the drivers door failed to trigger the central locking (CL) so I locked them all manually. Today I had the drivers door apart and the motor out. Both microswitches appear to be working (according to my voltage tester) and the motor works because I hooked it up direct. Gave me quite a shock because that thing shifts when you connect it up!

Put it all back together and it worked ... once. Couldn't unlock afterwards and seems to be dead as a doornail although the indicators do flash so presumably the alarm is armed. Car runs OK. So, suspicion starts to point at the CL ECU. So, questions:

1) Does the CL ECU sound like the major suspect or am I missing something?

2) assuming it is, are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of? Presumably my key will need reprogramming to the replacement one?

3) Are they all the same or am I looking for a specific part-number here?

4) Where is the damn thing and how do I get to it?

The car is a 51-plate 2.6 CDX.

Cheers,

J

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Car battery
« on: 07 January 2012, 13:18:57 »
Anyone know what's the biggest Ahr battery you can safely stick in a 2.6? I kind of assume it'll just pull whatever current it needs and no more but modern electronics can be so tempermental I don't want to push my luck!

I assume it is OK to use my jump-leads to put another battery in parallel so I don't lose the radio code and have to reset the windows / sunroof etc afterwards?

Cheers.

Some time ago I seem to remember someone posting up a link to where you could get replacement (3 button) key fob covers, complete with batteries. Anyone remember what that link was?

Seem to remember a cost of about £12?

Cheers.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Connecting phone through radio
« on: 13 March 2010, 18:37:36 »
Anyone know how you connect your phone to the radio? I can see the microphone etc. in the courtesy light so presumably it is possible.

My radio is the CCR2006.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / SUnroof switch light bulb
« on: 21 February 2010, 23:30:25 »
I'm sure when I bought my car the sunroof light switch lit up. Doesn't now! Does anyone know where a) the bulb is and b) how to access it to replace it?

Cheers,

J

Hi all,

Erratic problem with the alarm on my facelift (2001) CDX alarm. Sometimes when I turn the key to start it the alarm sounds. Doesn't stop me driving off but it sounds for about 30 seconds giving me some odd looks from some shoppers!

Is this something common or am I reduced to waiting till it becomes consistent and then trying to trace it? Any ideas where to start tracing from?

Cheers.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCR2006 - CD multichanger
« on: 09 May 2009, 00:29:04 »
Just bought a new car and one thing that strikes me is that the door to the CD multichanger doesn't open and when I press the CD button it comes up with 'Magazine' on the display which indicates no magazine is loaded.

Could it be the magazine is jammed in there? If so, how would you get it out?

If it isn't in there and the door is jammed, how do I open it?!

Omega General Help / Quiet tyres!
« on: 19 August 2010, 17:20:24 »
My front tyres are giving up on Milton Keynes's manic roundabouts so some replacements are due.

Can anyone recommend some tyres that are a reasonable price (£60-£80) but nice and quiet?

Handling not an issue as I rarely take it anywhere near its limit and quite enjoy catching it if it steps out of line anyway.

Cheers,

J

Omega General Help / Wing mirror parts
« on: 23 April 2010, 18:30:13 »
Some little scrotes decided to vandalise my near-side wing mirror during the week. I think I can get away with just new glass and the plastic casing at the back. Question is: is there anyone near Aylesbury who might have some spare parts kicking around for a 2001 facelift CDX saloon?

Unfortunately don't have enough posts to put this in the parts section.

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Is this anything to worry about?
« on: 02 May 2009, 21:21:51 »
Saw an Omega today which I am interested in buying. Car wasn't cold but probably had been standing for an hour. Checked under the water and oil caps - nothing.

Took car for a spin. Ran nicely. Got back, opened water cap to see if anything shaken loose and it poured out all over the tarmac. Waited, tried again - same again. By the time I got the cap off it had pretty much emptied the reservoir onto the tarmac. This from a 2001 plate. Also, on the cap were brownish-grey flecks (oil I suspect.) Guy reckons the oil cooler was changed 4 weeks ago and maybe not all was flushed out of the coolant.

Question: should it do this? If not, could it be the oil cooler wasn't fixed properly or could it a head gasket going? Low mileage so wouldn't have thought so but you never know if they've not checked the coolant and cooked it.

Ideas anyone? Am I just overreacting or could it be more serious?

Got a Wittig towbar on my prefacelift mig and wonder if it'll fit the facelift one?

Can't say I use it much but always nice to know it is there if I need to borrow a trailer to take some stuff to the tip. Plus, woman ran into the back of me once and while my car was untouched, hers was a mess where she'd hit the towbar.
