Omega General Help / autobox issue
« on: 13 September 2007, 19:53:06 »
Anyone with an Ar25 box find 2nd to 3rd gear change when crawling in slow traffic a pain where ; if it changes up to 3rd at the same as lifting off the throttle  as it were I get this DOOF sound (only way I can describe it) almost as if it gets confused whether it should be changing up or down (ECU has been upgraded to v.10) may well be normal but God is it annoying!!

Omega General Help / AirBag Squib
« on: 08 August 2007, 19:32:10 »
Had the airbag squib changed on my car last May, due to excessive squeaking when ambient Temp' is cool and now it's back again, making the steering feel slightly stiffer, Vx have refused to assist (as per usual) as its just ouside warranty period for that part, still think it's a disgrace as i wouldn't expect the part  become duff in that space of time as were the thoughts of my local dealership who did try on my behalf to get some come back from Vx as well as me contacting them.
Has anyone managed to quieten one down, without taking it apart?
Cheers Pete

Omega General Help / Error code
« on: 23 June 2007, 14:07:46 »
I've just bought the scantool ELM 327 interface and seems to work ok, my only concern is that when doing a code read I see code; P1781* (using Scantool software) any ideas what it means?, I don't have any eml lights on and tried some other software package and didn't report any error codes, so is it a genuine code?

Omega General Help / Coolant Fumes
« on: 01 June 2007, 14:01:04 »
have noticed with my 2.2 that when sitting in traffic and coolant Temp' rising etc. that if the wind is blowing in the right direction (driver's window down) I can sometimes smell coolant fumes to some degree, I don't appear to have any leaks anywhere at the moment as I've checked everywhere, so could it be that the coolant cap is just releasing some pressure when hot , hence the fumes? used to get a similar thing on my old Carlton and that had no leaks either.

Omega General Help / Throttle body clean-up
« on: 19 May 2007, 19:43:20 »
Well, I took the throttle body off today and gave it a thorough clean and all went smoothly , until roadtest; although the car was running absolutely fine , the engine management light came on followed by the diagnostic light(car with spanner thru' it) and so thought S**T what the hell now, thinking to myself that I'd double checked everything, so as I was close to local Vx garage , I popped in and they put the old Tech2 on it;  Mass Air Flow Meter Failure comes up! Let's lift the bonnet up the guy says and there it is !! I'd forgotten to connect the damn connector back to the Meter (teach me to tuck it out of the way) well how much of a Plonker did I feel then!! anyway all ok now!!
Just thought it might be amusing to put on the forum.

Omega General Help / Suspect wire cable routing
« on: 17 May 2007, 13:51:23 »
On the 2.2 I seem to have a cable that's wrapped around a pipe, seems a bit suspect to me; can anyone else confirm their's is the same on your 2.2.
Click on the link below for photo, it's taken from roughly the rear of the throttle body .

Omega General Help / Rough raunning when cold
« on: 14 May 2007, 20:55:50 »
I might have asked  this before;  my 2.2 sometimes has this rough running around 2,000 rpm at low speeds when engine is cold , almost feels like the whole car is vibrating as if going over rumble strips, at tick over it's fine and when engine has warmed up all is ok at 2,000 rpm etc . Tried several things to cure it , but just when I think I've sorted it, it bites me on the bum again several days later.                                                                              Anyone else had this with their 2.2?

Omega General Help / 3,000 RPM change up
« on: 09 April 2007, 14:07:32 »
Might have asked this before; does anyone know how to disable the 3,000 rpm ( Cat warm-up) change up that occurs first thing in the mornings, is there an ECU upgrade that gets rid of it? Only thing left that I find annoying with this car , I have spoken to owners of Mercs, BMW and several others with autoboxes and even a Signum and none of these have this. Gets a bit embarrassing as you drive down the road and people glance over thinking 'does he know how to change gear'!! not doing the engine and those dodgy manifolds much good either.
Cheers Pete
