General Discussion Area / Big thanks to TB
« on: 26 April 2017, 16:47:56 »
Who very kindly gave up his lunch break today to meet up with me to sort out my NCDC issues with his Tech 2.
NCDC is now exactly how it should be, and climate fan has been "calmed down". All systems on the car given a check over while the machine was plugged in.
An absolute gentleman (despite his angry reputation  ;D)
Many thanks Jaime.  :y :y :y

If time hadn't have been an issue we could have made the event the inaugaral meeting of the MCC (mass cull committee), but that can wait a while.  :D

I was pretty impressed with his pussy too.  :)

Omega General Help / cranks sensor - or not ?
« on: 08 March 2017, 18:51:16 »
Driving along today and the car suddenly cut out. wouldn't restart. Spanner light was on. After approx. 15 minutes it fired up as normal, with spanner light off, but did exactly the same less than a mile later. Left it again for 15 minutes (noticed spanner light was flashing at one point, but mostly just constantly lit) and it fired up again.
Same thing happened again less than a mile away, so gave up and called recovery truck.
I have just plugged my maxscan code reader into the car and found no stored or pending codes.
I'm pretty sure its crank sensor, but wanted opinions on whether it could be anything anything else ?
Tia.

Oh, by the way, anyone know the part number for 3.2, 2002 crank sensor. Save me searching. Cheers.  :)

General Car Chat / MOT fail ?
« on: 26 February 2017, 20:04:14 »
Currently, when I switch off the engine on my old 190D it takes no notice and carries on chugging away.
I suspect it needs a new fuel shut off valve, but don't know as yet, how much it will cost and how much MB will charge for one.
MOT runs out Thursday, so I'm wondering if it will be a failure due to this.
I suspect it will, but want to check with peeps who actually know.
Tia. :)

04 Monaro. 65k miles. Fast black. Very  nice condition apparently. I think it has had engine upgrades but not certain yet.
Any idea of realistic value of such a beast ?

Omega General Help / Knocking n/s/f
« on: 19 February 2017, 20:47:11 »
Quite a severe knocking when going over bumps and even when applying the brakes, from the n/s/f. I fitted new Meyle droplinks today but that hasn't cured it.
I observed there was noticeable play in the wheel bearing, question is, would that be a likely cause of these symptoms. I cant see it myself, but I may be wrong.  :-\

General Car Chat / Droplinks - best source ?
« on: 04 February 2017, 20:44:27 »
Got a knock from the front end when going over bumps. Droplinks are the first suspect, as everything wishbone related is new, and springs look ok.
Is there currently a consensus on the best brand / supplier for droplinks ?
GSF have Vetech at a reasonable price, but I don't know anything about the brand.

General Discussion Area / Bye bye Bernie.
« on: 24 January 2017, 07:35:30 »
The poison dwarf has finally lost control of F1. Got to hand it to him, he had a good run and for better or worse, turned it into a huge money spinning global brand.
Apparently Ross Brawn has been given a senior role by the new owners. Shall be interesting to see how that turns out.

General Discussion Area / Laptop problem.
« on: 04 January 2017, 16:26:57 »
For some reason it has developed an aversion to playing video type stuff. If try to play a youtube video, or watch SKY GO, It freezes up just as the video is about to start playing. Toshiba satellite, about a year old, windows 10.
Ive done windows defender security full scan, defragmented, and disc clean up to no avail.

Omega General Help / Strange non starting
« on: 28 December 2016, 16:26:41 »
Just drove the car 200 yards and then stopped to unlock a gate and let someone out. I switched the engine off, while doing so and turned the key to restart it a minute later but no joy.
It turned over fine, but wouldn't fire. I opened the bonnet but couldn't see anything amiss, so just wiggled electrical plugs etc.
Previously today I have had a coil pack out and put it back, cleared the usual 3.2 lamda code and then washed the car.
It started fine after each of these jobs.
After a couple of minutes of trying to start it, it fired up as normal.
Plugged Maxscan reader in and it showed no codes.
Im thinking classic crank sensor problem ? Any other possibilities before I replace it.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / NCDC 2015 questions.
« on: 20 December 2016, 12:13:30 »
I'm considering buying one of these with paired CID. No mention of telematics with it though, so am I correct in thinking it will then be exactly the same as an NCDC 2013 ?
If I wanted to, could I add the telematics unit later, or are they also paired to the headunit and screen?
The CID has a very fine blue line running down the screen. It barely noticeable, but is that a sign that the screen is living on borrowed time ?
