General Discussion Area / Too slow
« on: 08 March 2007, 22:35:40 »
Why does my 2.2 feel slower than the 1.8 Zafira I took out today with 6 passengers?

It sat at 4000 rpm at 75mph and pulled well up hill.  Felt like it had more torques to me  :(

And before you V6 bullies start shouting about cylinders - they are both 4 pots!

This week brief update:

Kate and Sawyer come back to the camp.  Then Kate sets off again to look for Jack. :(

Hurley finds a Campervan full of beer and plans to repair it. They push it down a hill and it jump starts first time :)  Sawyer drinks the beer.  [smiley=beer.gif]

Sayed and John, join Kate in the woods and ask the French woman to help rescue Jack - why should she help? - cos Kate thinks Alex is her daughter.......oooh...never saw that coming  ;)

More long winded storylines next week....only on....LOST (Q spooky music in your head) :y

General Discussion Area / Internet bulb failure
« on: 27 February 2007, 22:02:54 »
Just sitting here in the dark pondering if it could be true.....

For the last two weeks my PC has been unable to get a dial tone when the Vampires get out of bed, I've had some Virgin's test the line and it's "very noisy sir, with a lot of interference, could be a bad earth from your street lights".  :-?

Anyway, tonight it's working ok but the PC (not speaker) is making a whining noise that I thought was a faulty fan but then the ceiling light blew and the noise stopped.... internet's ok...am I fixed?  :-/

When you do not know what i am
Then I Am Something
But when you know what i am
Then I Am nothing..

WHAT AM I??

Booked car in today for track rod ends.  Nice garage man said just to do the ends and not the whole assembly as you have to remove the boots and its feet would get cold :-/ so not to bother.

His says the pattern parts are just as good as Vx and probably only cost a fiver each so he'll get them in. :)

I go to pick it up and "£102 all in Sir"  :-X Speechless.

He explained he had two track rod ends sent over, one costing £11 each (still in a box) but they were too short - mine needed the big buggers at £20 something each side + vat.

Ho hum. :(  Not sure of the exact price as I'll settle up tomorrow.

But it has solved the knocking issue and just need the tracking reset again on Saturday. (No full geometry adjustment up north)

General Discussion Area / I'm back... well sort of...
« on: 23 February 2007, 20:15:48 »
I know you've all missed me, but I may be popping up now and again like Chorlton and the Wheelies, as my broadband connection is knackd.

My connection drops out at about 5pm each day and doesn't come back till next morning so they are downgrading me to 512kb cos my 1 meg connection is unstable and has huge interference apparantly.

It'll take a week to change so until then I'll be here when it lets me  :-/

General Discussion Area / LED's
« on: 20 February 2007, 16:43:17 »
I saw a car last week running blue led's as his side lights - looked nice but bit chavvy for me.

I also saw an idiot using blue led's as indicator bulbs - flashing blue - muppet.

So I found myself wandering around Ebay and wondered about white ones as a simple upgrade to the blue tinted Phillips ones I have fitted at present as they've lost their initial blue look.

Trouble is they seem to be for off road use only - there are 4 leds. 6 leds and rainbow ones but I was thinking of something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRIGHT-LED-SIDE-LIGHT-INDICATOR-CORNER-DASH-BULBS-WHITE_W0QQitemZ140083047832QQihZ004QQcategoryZ10424QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Are they really that bright???

My daughter's friend has signed up for this website (free version) for free downloads but it looks like Napster type site to me with File Sharing issues.

Is it safe - or should I just run away - your comments as ever would be appreciated.  :)

General Discussion Area / Pressure hose fix
« on: 27 January 2007, 23:36:40 »
I have a barrel style Karcher 5.50 pressure washer with built in hose reel.  Went to use it today and Mrs C has obviously used it recenyly cos the hose was under the barrel and kinked in 3 places, where it's not been wound up and now it's split  >:(

Has anyone ever cut out the kinks well enough to withdstand 130 bar, or am I resigned to handing over £30 to Ebay for a new one? :-/
