Been contemplating buying a couple of items towards building myself a new PC (Wont be for a while yet) but the parts I buy can be used in my current PC (Faster/more RAM and a bigger M2 Drive (Gen4)) ::)

Added them to the basket + next day delivery.  Found cheaper RAM at another retailer so emailed my supplier and got a price match (Gets me over £18 back).  Then as you do I had a nosy round to see what was on offer, found a kingston USB 3.2 256GB (£36(5 Year warranty)) whist cossidering the USB the buggers have put the carriage price up :-\

General Discussion Area / 60s/70s TV Sit Com
« on: 22 March 2021, 04:37:04 »
I Preferred TV way back when.

Just chatting with a friend the other day about TV shows.

Mind Your Lanuage (think I watched this because Francoise Pascal was in it :o :P)
Fen Street Gang
Love Thy Neighber
Bless This House
and loads more.

Some I cant remember, Nelly Pickergill & the picked onion factory keep popping into my mind. (just Googled it.  (Hilda Baker - Not on your Nellie))

Humour was so diffent in the 70's Jim Davidson was allowed to tell Chalkiy jokes & Chubby Brown was actually funny way back then.  Bob Monkhouse, Max Bygrave and Bruchie all told Blue Jokes in comedy/working mens clubs on thier way to being TV celebs.

I also has cassette tapes of Mike Harding - One Man Band & Blaster Bates

The Good Old Days. :y :y :y :y

Last few weeks of sleepless nights I have started watching skys music channels.

Was nice catching up with 70's music :y  So many bands I havent seen in a while.  Meatloaf, Quo and even bands/singers like Adam Ant, Howard Jones etc as the list goes on.

Then theres the ladies, Tina Turner, Cher, Shania Twain, Blondie, Heart Anastasia etc ::)

and then theres the TV Porn section with Madona (and cher) a bit cheeky, Beyonce I am sure has popped out of her costume at times and given the camera crew a private show,
But now you have Little Mix pushing the bounderies. :o

General Discussion Area / TV - Cars & MOT Checking
« on: 19 March 2021, 10:33:45 »
Just been watching Heartbeat episode and one cars in it caught my eye.  Didnt know what car it was so nipped on ECP and put the reg in but no joy.  So nipped on the gov MOT check site and it came back as a MG

MG MIDGET
Check another vehicle

Colour
Red
Fuel type
Petrol
Date registered
21 September 1953
MOT expired on
12 June 2013

History shows from 2006/13

But the bit that interests me is the car has done 56 miles, I for one dont believe this is the cars actual total mileage.

So with it being a classic car and possibly had a retore/rebuild would this mean the car can have the mileage changed on the MOT?

General Discussion Area / Smart Meters (Yorkshire Water)
« on: 18 March 2021, 09:38:47 »
I woke up to find 2 payments made into my bank this morning, 1 was interest (£1.32(0.1%)) and the other was an overpayment on all the direct debits made. ::)

I had a smart meter fitted many years ago and it was explained that etc etc blah blah that bills would be kept accurate.  So if thats the case, based on the refund value then that means they havent read it for quite a while. :-X

Now looking online for this years birthday treat for myself. 8)

Just been chatting to a lady that turned 60 :-* :-* today and after reminising a chatting about all sorts she said I get free presciptions as of today.  So then bus passes got mentioned and the fact she has to wait till she is 67 to get hers. :-X

Well thinking she was wrong I went on google - Scotlanf, Ireland & Wales are all free for anyone over 60 according to .gov.uk.  they are also free to anyone within London.  But the rest of England it's sweet break All. :-\

General Discussion Area / PC Help - Hard Drive Formatting
« on: 02 March 2021, 21:41:53 »
So as I continue with sorting out my home I have now come come accross a load of hard drives IDE, SCSI & Sata.  Some I have aquired other were bought and used it my own computers over the years. :y

Having never sold any of my machines I have one or 2 kicking arround :-X.  the problem I have is the data that was/is stored on them, mainly personal details and spread sheets with bank details on them etc. :-\

Formatting will remove items to clear space but as most of us know this information can be retrieved.

I am after (Free) software if possible that will destroy all old data permanantly so I can scrap /or sell the drives and move on. :y

General Discussion Area / Is It Me - or The Online Con ?
« on: 26 February 2021, 02:47:24 »
Been shopping online with Asda/Tesco as long as I can remember.  Started seeing deliveries from Iceland where I live so decided to give them a try.   Good range of products etc.  So placed an order. ;)

1st order placed with £10 off next purchase offered off next order, didnt bother with it as not sure of the service yet.  Delivery arrives, free,  All complete delivery was 100% :y

2nd order - all of the above but £15 discount offered. :y

3rd order - Same as 2nd offer & 100% happy with delivery so singed up for the discount offer.

Here's where it went wrong, Seems I got charged a sign up fee of £15, this was not seen during the signup, will be dealing with the refund next few days. :-[

General Discussion Area / Euro Lottery - If you won it
« on: 24 February 2021, 13:33:09 »
£180M on offer.

A lot dont enter, but if you do.

What would be your 1st Purchase?   ::)

I think mine would be sending the Elite off for body strenthening, Brake (Carbon) mods & LS V8, maybe some add on's like twin turbos and NOS.  Rebuild the running gear, new paint job but keep the outside stock and then rent a race track to play on. 8)

Would make an ideal sleeper to catch people out.

General Discussion Area / Railway Mapping & Map Types
« on: 17 February 2021, 00:18:20 »
Google maps are brilliant for quick 8)ly plotting A to B routes with many options inbetween.

Whilst looking on google I have often seen railway lines dissapear underground like Gringleford to Dore/Totly line.  Tonight I saw some line by the side of the M62 in the Cleckheaton area and wondered what stations they connected to.

Also was looking at a faster method to work out train journeys, google is ok but doesnt allways show faster or shorter routes. :-\

Its only a passing thought but maybe worth a mention as there are possibly some sort of map network out there to make it all easier.
