General Discussion Area / Bus to work tomorrow
« on: 15 November 2006, 23:17:22 »
Well the day has come that I am no longer able to drive my meega to work.

Why...?  Because it's tucked up safe in my garage - so safe I can't get in!!!!! >:(

The up and over door is electronic with a switch inside the garage, and on a remote in the car, also in the garage, and the internal door lock has jammed and refuses to budge.

Trouble is it's a fire door and I can't remove the hinges or force it open.

So it's the bus for me, via B&Q for a big hammer - cos all my tools are in the garage too!

 >:( >:( >:(

General Discussion Area / Rammed the garage again
« on: 13 November 2006, 20:37:26 »
Why are modern garages so small?

My garage is just 6" longer than my Omega (with tow bar) and I have to nudge the wall to stop when I drive in.  Tonight I left the old bird in gear and BANG smashed into the wall again.

So I've nicked the kids whiteboard to cover the hole and told the wife it's so they can play when I'm working on the car - which is more often now.

FYI not a mark on the car - must be down to the chrome number plate trim. ::)

General Discussion Area / I know its late but lets talk tyres
« on: 10 November 2006, 00:08:38 »
Just been reading some other threads & amazed to hear that Tunnie's dad got 50,000 miles from one set of tyres & found myself wondering what they were made of - cos surely it can't be rubber.

I know we all have different specs but how far can you get on yours and what are they?

I have Pirelli P7's & good for 20,000 miles then all 4 tend to go at once.

General Discussion Area / Cruise upgrade - hidden cost.
« on: 27 October 2006, 20:24:25 »
Recently upgraded to Cruise & had Tech2 done to enable system but VX want either £13 or £20 + VAT to supply cluch switch to get it to work.

Difference in price apparantly due to switch being Chassis specific - robbers!

General Discussion Area / Gone in 60 seconds - too slow
« on: 03 November 2006, 20:44:39 »
Did anyone see the fastest Vauxhall ever in the press yesterday?

0 to 60 in 1 second!

Monaro maybe? Suped up Corsa? Chipped Zafira?

No its a 1972 K-reg Vauxhall Victor!!!!!!!

Cost £60 for the car & £100,000 for the mods which include swapping the 2 ltr standard engine for a 9.3 ltr V8 Chevvy engine capable of 183 mph in 7.8 seconds

And this monster is street legal.  Just in case you fancy your chances at the lights it looks like a Viva with a bonnet scoop 2ft high, go faster stripes and probably a baked bean tin exhaust mod but I can't tell from the pic.
