Omega General Help / New exhaust
« on: 17 January 2010, 12:06:49 »
Hello all,
Need a new exhaust for the other halfs Elite estate. Most probably order from Eternal car unless anyone has experience with the Polish systems?

Is it better to phone eternal or to order straight from Ebay?

regards

Steve

Omega General Help / Diagram of steering system.
« on: 13 December 2009, 11:53:10 »
Hello all,
Has anyone a diagram of the steering set-up for a 99 Omega.
The car is pulling to the left and after taking it to have the tracking done-the mechanic said there was play on the drivers side inner track rod.  Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Brake pad warning.
« on: 16 November 2009, 07:45:41 »
Hello all,

Just had the brake pad warning come up on the wifes Elite. Does it cover rear pads as the front ones were changed a couple of months ago-or perhaps a broken wire.

Thanks
Steve

Omega General Help / Headlight chrome reflector.
« on: 28 October 2009, 14:05:09 »
A few months ago noticed that the headlamp chrome reflector on the wifes car was loose. Just remembered about it. How is it attached to the headlamp assembly - I think I loosened it somehow adjusting the lamps for continental driving. Its a 99 Elite with xenons.

All the best

Omega General Help / Headlight

Decided to alter the beam set-up back to RHD after holiday in France. The drivers side bulb holder and the plastic backing with the side lamp bulbs on was all loose. Does the whole thing clip back on somehow or is the lamp assembly kaput?

It's Xenon by the way.

Omega General Help / Removing Doors
« on: 13 September 2009, 09:38:53 »
I,m removing the doors on my old 2.5 estate.
How hard are they to remove?
Is it just a matter of removing the strap and pushing out the pins?

Omega General Help / Drop Links
« on: 14 July 2009, 19:36:02 »
Hello all,
Just changed the drop links on the wifes Elite.
Took over an hour and lots of swearing just to undo the nuts.

Good thing is the knocking has now disappeared.

All the best

Omega General Help / Adjusting Xenons for European driving.
« on: 10 July 2009, 10:11:09 »
Hello all,
I'm off to France in my 99 Elite which has Xenon Headlights.
I've read that you cannot stick beam diverters onto the headlamps-is there an easy way of adjusting them?

Omega General Help / Drop Links

I have a knocking on the front suspension and thought I'd try the drop links first of all. Do you need to buy a complete droplink or just the bushes? Do they sell them at local motorfactors or just the stealers. also are they easy to change-I'll attemot the wishbone next.

Omega General Help / Cooling Fans
« on: 30 May 2009, 18:11:11 »
Hello all.
Towed with the Omega last week and realised how close it is towing to my Range Rover. Stability is far superior with the Omega but the Range Rover just pips it on long hills. Saying that though it pulled like a train up the Heads of the Valleys from Neath to Merthyr which if anyone knows this road is a good test of any towcar.

The 3.0 is far better than the 2.5 I towed with for 8 years.
Just a question-are the cooling fans two stage and if they are at what temp are they supposed to kick in?

The car never went over about 97 degrees towing and I'm just interested.

Thanks

Steve

Omega General Help / Auto Box
« on: 28 April 2009, 21:34:49 »
Hello all,

Noticed the car tonight was taking longer to change into top-it seemed a little as if it was in towing mode where it takes longer to change into top ( I was giving it a little welly)

It's due for a filter and fluid change next week.

Anything to worry about?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Dexron 111
« on: 26 April 2009, 11:05:08 »
Hello all,

Going to change the fluid on my autobox after adding a cooler.
I priced Dexron 111 at my local factors at £25 per 5 litres.

Is this about right or is it cheaper elsewhere?

Omega General Help / Transmission Oil Cooler
« on: 21 March 2009, 16:32:13 »
Helloa all,

I've just bought a 3 litre auto Elite to replace my 2.5 auto. When I first had the 2.5 I had a garage fit an extra transmission cooler. They sandwiched it between the radiator and the aircon radiator making extra brackets for the radiators.
I am going to fit an extra cooler to the new car. Is there an easier place to fit it rather than between the radiators.

Omega General Help / Brakes
« on: 24 March 2009, 07:47:32 »
Hello all.

Have just replaced the 2.5 Omega estate I had for 8 years with a 3 litre Elite estate.
I am a little disappointed with the brakes on the Elite-they need quite a firm push and there is a lot more pedal travel than my previous estate.
The pads look ok and the previous owner had new discs fitted last year.
Is there any way of improving the brakes as it's the wifes car and I'll also be using it to tow a largish caravan.

Omega General Help / Parts Interchangeability
« on: 20 February 2009, 12:56:35 »
Hello all,

I've just bought a 99 3.0 Elite Estate auto to replace my 98 2.5 auto estate.

I've had the 2.5 petrol auto for 8 years and cannot stop it losing water.

As both cars are the same colour I'm thinking of keeping the 2.5 as spares.

Are the diffs, radiators, gearboxes etc interchangeable between the 2.5 and 3.0?

Thanks

Steve
