Transmission Oil Cooler
« on: 21 March 2009, 16:32:13 »

Helloa all,

I've just bought a 3 litre auto Elite to replace my 2.5 auto. When I first had the 2.5 I had a garage fit an extra transmission cooler. They sandwiched it between the radiator and the aircon radiator making extra brackets for the radiators.
I am going to fit an extra cooler to the new car. Is there an easier place to fit it rather than between the radiators.

Regards

Steve

Can't think of one, but you shouldn't need to fit it. I've towed miles with my caravan with my 3.0 and haven't had any gearbox overheating problems.

All Omega Autos already have oil coolers, an extra one is not needed.

Spend the money on a gearbox oil change and new filter ;)

Many thanks yet again.

I'll try it without an additional cooler.

The 2.5 I had for parts had a small extra oil cooler radiator stashed nicely away on brackets on the drivers side of the radiator...but as said not really necessary as an extra...

Thanks all,
I looked today and the oil pipes are going into the side of the water radiator, I note on fleabay that someone is selling used Omega transmission oil coolers which look like the one I had fitted extra to my previous Omega. Did they upgrade the cooler on later (facelift) models?

Thanks

In a word .....   NO :)

( well AFAIK .. and there is nothing showing in the parts list ... )

Mine doesn't have any additional cooling and it towed the 'van up 3000 ft mountains in the South of France last summer (temps in the high 30's / low 40's ) with no problems at all  :)
