General Discussion Area / Vauxhall Dealership
« on: 13 November 2010, 09:24:33 »
The wife is interested in a new car and we were looking around the local Vauxhall stealers.  We were there for around 45 mins looking at several cars, sitting in them, opening boots, reading litterature, opening bonnets (me) visably doing calculations on the various finance deals.......

......not one of the 8 sales staff came up and even said hello, let alone 'Can I help you' :o

Not that I would have wanted any but surely these guys want to make a living?  :-?

No I have not joined Tunnie in the organ donor maker ranks but put simply I have fitted a helmet cam to my cycling helmet to capture the numerous examples of poor driving I see on my daily commute.

Okay the first one is pretty meagre but it's a start.  I also would have had a woman driving today whilst on her phone with 2 kids in the back if the bracket had not have moved.

The police are aware and will be monitoring the account, they have told me this is legal  :y

General Discussion Area / Courrier quote
« on: 07 October 2010, 19:38:45 »
I am looking at getting a marine diesel engine down from Glasgow to Farnborough and I have been soliciting quotes.  £140 is the best I have got so far which seems a little steep.  The engine is 130kg and 800x40x75cm.

I feel it is too cheeky to get the OOF courrier service involved in this one due to the weight and distance so defo looking at a courrier.  Does anyone know of a service that may do a better price?

General Discussion Area / Legal Advice - Summons

Not me, but someone in my team.  Driving without insurance following very minor accident in a car park.  He was insured with a work hire car to go from point A to B yet decided to do a massive detour in the opposite direction to see his brother.  Unbeknowst to him this invalidated the insurance and has now been summoned to court.  He will be pleading guilty in person so that he can plead exceptional hardship.

I have sent an email details the case with motorlawyers.co.uk who offer a self-representation pack which will detail what he should say to mitigate any punishment.  Basically he's a new driver and if he gets 6 points his license will be revoked which means he stands a fair chance of losing his job, esp in this climate of cuts in my line of work.

I will be going up there to present the mitigating circumstances but I am wondering if anyone here has any experience of this type of thing of getting barristers to help out or will a well-reasoned argument by yours truely be fine?

Well been looking to upgrade the Express as she's not that suited to Cruising.  Plus if I am going to get the wife interested in sailing I need a boat that is comfortable so I have just bagged this little beauty for very little money:

She will need some work but it would seem not that much to get her on the water  :y

General Discussion Area / Before you buy anything from PC World....
« on: 01 September 2010, 17:20:46 »
.....check their site online.  Just went it with a colleague, well boss, to get a DVI/VGA Adapter and found one for 19.99 GBP.  In shock I started to search online with the phone and found on pcworld.co.uk for 6 pounds and a few pence.  When I questionned them about it they said they would match their online price.

Is this legal? :-/
