Hello EveryOne

Was Checking My Brake Pads on Sunday and After i took the front wheels off i saw the the inside edge of the front tires has worn down which is strange as i had a standard  tracking done not that long ago by Toni at STS watford

Also checked the wishbones and one of the rubbers bushes looked alittle worse for wear.

Anyway next weekend i have decided to replace the wishbones, The track rods, front discs and pads, and then get a Full Geometry set up done by Toni at STS in watford and 4 new tires

Question I am wanting to know is I think my Rear Shocks are alittle bit weepy so i want to replace them also but can i do this after the Full Geometry set up and still be ok or should i change them before. I am just short on funds cant pay for everything at once.

Also the Steering Idle arm are there Two on the omega or just one, as i had a look yesterday and it looked like there were two.
I know you dont need to retrack after changing them or am i wrong ? Just think the steering is alittle lose.

Does anyone know how much a Full Geometry Set up is for the front and rear at STS Watford ?

Thanks
Craig

Omega General Help / Quick Lambda Question on Rich And Lean
« on: 10 May 2007, 21:01:57 »
Hiya Chaps Been doing some checks with my hand held LPG Tester kit mainly want to make sure I have the Mixture set right

When At Idle the Tester shows the voltage going from 0.4v to 5.0v ie going from Rich to lean

Ok Here is my Question Does the lambda switch off when your driving at speed or does it still measure the O2 in the Exhaust gases and if it does what should it read 2.5v half way ?

Any help would be great as i am driving all the way back to the Northeast tomorrow and I think its been running far to rich on gas and i dont want to be paying as much as petrol.

Thanks  :y :y

Omega General Help / Help Needed From LPG Head Guru's
« on: 02 May 2007, 21:51:41 »
Hiya chaps need some help with some info on my LPG system, more so from people who have DIY installed them as its a set up thing.

ill try and keep this short so bear with me please.

Right My lpg system Which is a MIXER SYSTEM has been alittle iffy of late so by prue chance a hand held system appered on ebay for my LPG system(its not the kind you can plug in to a laptop) it needs this hand held system to Diagnostic and test it.

So i plugged it into the LPG ECU and it worked thankgod but i dont understand much of it to be honest but i do some.

The first thing that was wrong in the settings on the LPG ECU was the O2 sensor was set as a Zirconia sensor which gives a 0-1V signal, and the hand held system reported it was running Lean. But as I have only just changed my O2 sensor I know the 2 litres run on a Titania sensor operates between 0-5V, so i changed it over on the LPG ECU, it reported after acouple of tweeks it was running rich, then lean then back to rich and so on, which i think is correct for it to do so, as the ECU on the car does tthis runs it lean and then rich over and over.

Am i right in thinking that if the LPG system thought it was a 1V lambda and was reporting it as lean all the time it would pump more gas into the engine to try and make it richer, IE why my MPG has been aliitle on the poor side.

I know that aleast by checking the 2.5 runs a Zirconia sensor which gives a 0-1V and only has 3 cables from it.

Does anyone who installed there own system have any note or manuals that came with their system i can have a copy of to throw some light on the different readings i am getting from the hand held Diagnostic and testing device.

One thing i did change was the middle solenoid  the one with the filter in it knacked up and would not open all the time so the valve was removed so it is always open but there are two others one on tank and one on the Vap/reducer.

Any Help Would be Great

Omega General Help / I Think I have Been Had Grrr
« on: 30 April 2007, 10:06:12 »
Just want to check If I have been had.

I bought a Centre section exhaust for my 2000 2 litre facelift and was told by the guy on Ebay that this would fit my car

VAUXHALL Omega 2.0i Cat. 16v. Estate. X20XEV Engine. 04/1994-10/1999

Have i been had or is the part incorrectly made as it will not fit.

No point sending it back as it was not expensive and it would cost as much for postage.

It was just a cheapo one to find out if its the centre box or the cat making the noise thats getting on my nervous, back box is VX and not old at all so its not that

« on: 28 April 2007, 17:54:03 »
Does Anyone have a good large photo of a vauxhall Cat from a 2 litre engine

I have just been under my car about to change the center section and back box and i am Iffy if the Cat on it is a Vauxhall one

What markings should one have like Text or stamps ?

if its not ill just get a second hand VX one and replace the whole lot as the bolts are rusty to say the least.

It may Explain why its bloody loud

Thanks Craig

Omega General Help / Horn Alarm Going Off
« on: 09 April 2007, 10:41:00 »
Hi chaps

Just in the last week my Horn alarm has been going off for no reason at all

I know the power sounding horn is not working as the bat is dead on it as i went through the normal 4 beep sounds for sometime last year

Its kind of strange i lock the car and about 5 mins later the horn alarm is going off i go outside and unlock the doors and relock them and its fine.

I have been under the bonnet acouple of times but i have checked the alarm part of the bonnet and it seems fine.

No flys in side and have closed all the air vents just incase it was that i am at a bit of a loss with this.

Anyone had any thing simlair ?

Omega General Help / Got Exhaust Manifold From Scrappy
« on: 23 March 2007, 13:26:03 »
Went down to the scrap yards there are about 6 all together and acouple had some omegas and vectras but the manifolds were cracked on those also. they all wanted 20 quid.

Took One out of a vectra but after looking at it, it was slightly different in shape from mine and it had two bolts sheared of for the heat shield so i thought Nope move on.

Anyway found one 2 litre omega without a cracked Manifold Yeah But he wanted 30 quid the bugger so i said yes thats fine thinking ill make up the 10 quid in bits ill light finger.

Anyway after loads of hasstle released all the bolts attaching the manifold to the head fine and all the bolts attached to the down pipe fine apart from one sheared off.

How hard will it be to drill this bolt out ? I have never drilled a bolt out before, i know you start with a small bit and work up to bigger.

Its going to be a right pain putting this in i know.

Omega General Help / Replaced Manifold But Found Knacked bit
« on: 24 March 2007, 20:39:47 »
Hiya Chaps Changed over my Exhaust Manifold went really well.

But Found when i took the secondary air injector i checked it by doing the suck test and it was knacked could suck or blow the valve with no difference (shown in the image with the red outline.)

Lucky for Me I took the Secondary Air injector rail and one way valve with the Exhaust Manifold from the scrappy so i changed it over.

What does this valve do?
Would it of damage the plastic bit shown with the blue arrow if the hot gasses got to it with the one way valve being knacked.

Omega General Help / 2 Litre Rocker Cover Gasket Air Leak Check
« on: 21 March 2007, 11:40:48 »
Hiya Chaps just a quick one.

Whats the best way of checking to see if you have an air leak on the rocker cover gasket.

I had mine changed by a Mech Guy when i had my Head Gasket Changed but i think he has tightened it up to much or used a non Vx on as i can see new clean oil around the rocker cover only a really small amount but  i should have none at all in my opinion.

I am going to clean it up tomorrow to see it it returns but i just wnated to check if there was a way of checking to see if it is letting in air.

I don't have oil in the wells so its ok that side but i just want to make sure without removing the rocker cover.

And I cant really hear a hissing.

I bet he over tightened it.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Spark Plugs
« on: 18 March 2007, 20:47:51 »
Hi Chaps

Quick Question was removing my Sparks Plugs today and the Spark Plug In number one pot is like mega stuck felt like it was threded so i left it.

My Question Is When i had my Head Gasket changed I was told the head was skimmed, do you have to remove the plugs to skim the head if so the Muppet Mechanic has threaded the spark plug and i can go back and see him and give him greef.

If the plug was stuck before the head gasket was changed and you do need to remove them for skimming may be it was not skimmed

Thanks
