Omega General Help / headlamp washer nozzle
« on: 26 December 2009, 17:02:55 »
My Drivers side washer nozzle has mysteriously disappeared :(

Is re-fitting (assuming I get one this year) straightforward or does it mean taking off the whole f****ing bumper?  >:(
I have an Irmscher front bumper with the headlight trim attached to the bumper (with the hole for the washer nozzle on it) which is why I ask

Is washer nozzle disappearance common?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Rattling and mysterious worsening of MPG....
« on: 26 December 2009, 17:20:29 »
..........Not necessarily related

Since hitting a huge puddle of water on the M25 recently (yes, before the snow) while driving in in the semi gloom there has been a rattling from the front of the car Drivers side.
It sounds as if it could be above the accelerator pedal/in engine bay near steering arm idler sort of area.

It sounds as if something has come away from it mounting/fixing.
Cant see anything looking in over the top and don't have any means of getting the car up to look from underneath.
Any previous experience of where I might look and what I might be looking for?

Coincidentally, and not necessarily related I think I've got a leak somewhere between tank and engine as I seem to be going through tanks of petrol at a much faster rate than usual accompanied by fairly whiffy foot well smell of petrol (doesn't last once you're moving).
Again, I haven't been able to look underneath for any signs of crystallised petrol, but are there places that are known weak links between tank and engine?

Any help gratefully received.
Happy New Year!

Omega General Help / Airbag light on
« on: 22 November 2009, 19:30:47 »
Any one help out with a suggestion or two?

Got back in the car the other day and closed the door (drivers - yup me driving) and the airbag light came on straight away. :(
Tech 2 finds where but can't reset - comes back on when engine running again
Tech 2 said something like:
'Drivers seat circuit showing too much resistance'

does this mean wires touching or connection(s) not being made properly?

Any ideas for where to start looking?
Connections under seat/ behind seat trim?
Wiring under door sill?
Should I also check the wiring/skin behind the door trim too?

Can anyone help me out, please? :y

Sometimes it doesn't go cold at all and others only after a while (20 mins).
It was regassed last june but never really gets cold. Air con service coming on I think - but what do i need to look out for?

Any ideas? (search didn't reaveal anything)

Omega General Help / Hairline cracks on Alloy wheels
« on: 23 March 2009, 19:28:35 »
Anyone any experience with this?

Seen some VXR alloys (recent - 2008). The guy's getting them refurbished before I take them off him.

However. refurbishing man sees some hairline cracks on two of the wheels. They are on the inside of the wheels so not obvious to the eye.
He's repaired them by welding and has left the weld visible. His opinion is that this will be a stronger repair (rather than grinding and smoothing).

Seller's being exceptionally honest by telling me all this and has said If you'd rather not proceed, no worries, walk away no hard feelings.

'Hairline cracks ' on Alloys less than a year old. Common and therefore negligable or should I walk away?
The refurbishing was for curbing on two of the wheels. No buckling.

Anyone any veiws?

Let me know what you think.

Hi all,

I've seen this on a couple of cars (most recently a silver estate for sale on this forum - the seller left after selling it).

I understand that the Facelift mounting bracket/Bar is needed but I wanted to know:-

Given that the bumper is a different shape from the Prefacelift, does the lower section of the rear panel (beneath the trim strip) have to be removed to allow the Facelift bumper to fit?

My assumption is that the rear panel is one peice (from door edge back) but I dont know for sure.

Any one done this or know what is needed to make the fit?

Grateful for any advice on this one :)

Omega General Help / Air not blowing through central vents
« on: 31 January 2009, 18:28:59 »
Hi all,
Nothing came up on this when I did a search just now, so wondering what's going on.

Using the A/C to heat the windscreen quite a bit at the moment. I generally close the centre two and both side vents (which helps speed up the windscreen clearing I find).
Yesterday noticed that with all vents open and just in regular heating mode (not any of the options) 'nowt coming through the middle vents.
Both side ones fine and the ones for the rear passengers also fine.

Been fine for the last 4 1/2 years only seems to have started now.

What do I need to check and is this common?

Omega General Help / Changing Alloys - repitch or hub adaptors?
« on: 07 January 2009, 19:39:09 »
Happy New year everyone!

I'm still undecided about what particular style of alloys to go for (immaterial really) but there are some that I like but have a different PCD (stud pattern as I've discovered).
Vaux/Opel PCD for 5 stud wheels is 5 x 110.

I've been looking at quite a few different wheels and a lot of them have PCDs of 108, 112 and 120.

There seen to be 2 different approaches to adapting wheels to the 110 PCD
1. Repitching which so I've found out involves:- "Repitching means you open the wheel bolt hole by 2mm. We have our own cnc machine so we are able to drill wheels, adjust offsets and repitch"

2. Hub adaptors:-
"Hi, it is possible to get a hub adaptor to get them to fit. These cost around £100 and take 3-5 days to order in"

So, question to anyone who knows:-

Is one a better way of doing it than the other?
Should either be avoided?

Any opinions/advice welcome

Omega General Help / Facelift exterior door trims
« on: 22 August 2008, 05:31:58 »
Hi
Does anyone know if Facelift exterior door trim (smooth plastic in same colour as door) will fit pre face lift doors ( for which the exterior trim is usually light black 'rough' plastic with a chrome strip)
Will the mounting lugs be different?

Any help appreciated

Omega General Help / Wheel size after lowering
« on: 01 February 2008, 18:17:48 »
Hi Folks,
Having done a search and looked in FAQ with nix results, could anyone help?

I drive a Perfacelift Estate which I've dropped 20mm.
I'm on the pre face lift Irmscher 17" MV6 Wheels with 235/45/17 tyres.

How big a rim/tyre combination can i go to without having to worry about arch modification?

Anyone advise?
Cheers

Omega General Help / Aerial masts - fitting different type
« on: 13 July 2007, 09:49:36 »
Wonder if anyone can help with this idea?

Recently been going through a bout of getting my aerial nicked (roof mounted screw in type on a pre-face lift estate) so been taking it off each nite/when I park.

My brother in law just written off his Saab so I got his roof 'shark fin' aerial with the idea of putting it on my 'Meega.
Nothing to remove, come from a car with it fitted as standard (so I know it works)

So,
i) Can it work on the 'Meega?
ii) who would be best to fix it - ICE specialist or a body shop? (And, no, I dont want to do it myself so as to maximise its chances of success)

Be interested to know what people think

Omega General Help / Lowering and Wheel size
« on: 24 February 2007, 22:46:50 »
Thinking of lowering my 2.5 estate and going from a 17" rim to 19 or 20".
What's the most I can drop before I have to start worrying about altering the arches with these size wheels?
Anyone had any experience that suggests it aint worth it with these size rims?
