Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Odd question for Carin Sat nav...
« on: 19 October 2008, 17:41:09 »
I know the system was used in a few motors over the years but if I was to use the "Brain" in a diffren make of car, would the speed pluse been a diffrent amount over a fixed distance make a difference?

The pluse is of the same wave form just about 800 pluses a mile diffent.

I was thinking does the speed pluse only work to tell the Carin it's "moving" or does it use it as a true messure of distance?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bulb check playing up...
« on: 03 October 2008, 11:40:05 »
Well all the lights work fine, but it kept throwing errors, showing the brake light warning even when not braking...

So I just ignored it.

till I had a proper look

All but one of the blubs in the back was blackend, changed the lot and every thing is fine now.

Though I have to say, I couldn't see the burnt glass till I had them in the house under good light...

Hello chaps,

My rear side lights and brake lights dont work, the high level light does though.

there is no power up the loom for the brake or side lights when checking behide the rear seat.

There is a live for the tow bar side lights though the brake light in that loom is not working.

Any idea's chaps?

All fuses and bulbs are fine

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Audio in ?
« on: 07 May 2008, 13:26:45 »
Ive got the vauxhall standed head unit my mega with a 6 disk changer in the boot, now I hardly use the CD's as I have my (ghey I know) iPod for music, now the issue is that I have now fitted my LCD for the back seat which is been run yet again by the iPod, but what I want to do rather than a crapy fm tuner is use the line out kit I have for the video and maybe use the audio in from the CD changer.

I was thinking find the left right audio cables, cut and splice to the iPods loom and have a selection of audio CD's in the changer with silient tracks, would this work ?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCR600 in "Safe" mode
« on: 03 February 2008, 14:57:29 »
Afternoon gents,

Ive got a CCR600 in the mega but it shows "Safe" on the display, I was under the impression that it means it's goosed and some one has got the code wrong 10 times...

I have the code it and the CD changer, is it worth doing any thing with it or should I ditch it for some thing newer ?

Omega General Help / Heater matrix / FAO JamesV6
« on: 26 March 2008, 19:46:18 »

Does anyone remember "BASSV6?" - he deals in Omega's on eBay.

Not sure how true this is, but he once told me that he's found a dead easy way of changing the matrix - simply by breaking off a totally inconspicuious bit of trim under the dash.

Bit of a cowboy method, and not one I've tried... but thought it may be worth a mention..

I'll have to have a go at doing this job by the book... I've not done it yet...

Any more info on this bodge-tastic fix ?

Omega General Help / Single point LPG kits
« on: 05 February 2008, 11:59:59 »
Afternoon gents,

Ive just got my 2.4 Fronitera back from the insurance chaps and its a CAT C write off, now I fitted a single point kit to it a few years back, asuming I the right mixer and a V6 injector simulator will it do for for my 2.5 ?

I know when I was knee deep in the grease there was issues with the lenghth of the air tract and the only way to go was with a multi point kit, but its been years since I had a play with this.

Just open to any advise

Newbie Welcome Area / Long time lurker, First time poster
« on: 03 February 2008, 11:09:28 »
Good Morning Chaps,

I've been lurking for a while as been fancying a Mega for some time, any way yesterday I did just short of a 800 round trip for one. some people may say I was mad doing this for R reg motor with star ship milage but I've always loved doing some thing diffrent.

I saw it on ebay as classfied add, for £800 , 12 months test & 6 months tax. Had a little barter with the guy and the phone and got a nice chunk off, but said it was a "elite" when it was clear it was a CDX, so I wait till I got there to point this out and got some more off the price, then during the test drive smoke came out from under the bonnet...

Yeah bad sign I know, the seller says "Must be the rocker covers, its common" so more cash off...

I used to be a grease monkey a few years ago and can tell the diffrence between burning oil and plastic... a cable tie was touching the manifold, so that was easy :)

Any way after a drive back to grim North Wales it made better MPG than my mondeo... so I guess might end up using it more often then I planned.

Couple of thing I need to sort, the car has a multi changer but the head unit (500 some thing) is showing safe so I asume its goosed now, but I have the chance of the Radio / car phone head unit, will this work with the CD changer and the disply ?

Any way thought I was say hello and a thankyou for the months of old threads I've been reading :)
