Omega Electrical and Audio Help / parking sensor problem
« on: 03 February 2010, 17:38:39 »
I went over a speed bump a little to fast today and now when I reverse the parking sensor warning sound is on constantly; can someone please tell me where I should kick the car to fix it! :)

I'm considering replacing my CCR2006 which has the cdc safe fault with a nice double din stereo like the one below. Does anyone know of a replacement brand that can be conected to the steering wheel volume and other stereo controls? I'd hate to lose the steering remote controls...thanks.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / dash lighting
« on: 06 December 2009, 16:28:41 »
Today the dash light for the right side of my speedo and fuel gauge has gone out (2000 2.5 cdx SEDAN). Is this a fuse problem or a bulb problem, how do you change the dash bulb?? Thanks for the help

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDC SAFE
« on: 26 October 2009, 19:19:47 »
I just purchased a 2000 X reg CDX with the 2006 stereo/4 disk changer. Stereo has CDC SAFE fault message. Where can I get this reprogrammed and how much will it cost? Is it possible to get it done without having to remove myself and post? Can the Vauxhall dealer fix this for me? Very annoying as seller failed to mention this and I failed to test! :(

Omega General Help / coolant leak
« on: 16 December 2009, 17:42:53 »
I had a new vauxhall cambelt and water pumb fitted 4 weeks ago, the mechanic mentioned a small coolant leak on top of the V of the engine near the oil pumbs. I spoke with the mechanic today and he recommends taking the engine apart and checking to see if the leak is from the oil pump or it's gasket..very expensive work. My local Vauxhall mechanic (different chap) said to try a bottle of stop leak in the coolant and monitor. The engine temp is always fine and I've only had a low coolant warning twice in 10 weeks, on both occasions a little water added fixed the warning. Who's advice sounds the most sound? :D

Omega General Help / brake pads
« on: 11 December 2009, 16:02:47 »
I got new front brake pads three weeks ago and realised that the brake pad warning was still on screen as I went to drive away from the garage. I stopped and asked the mechanic if he had re-set the warning as I was assured the pads would come complete with sensors. Turned out the pads were ordered without sensors??? The brakes felt worse than before for at least 2/3 days. They seem OK now but WTF? Does this all sound OK? :-[

Omega General Help / screen wash jets
« on: 10 December 2009, 08:33:14 »
I decided to take a pin to the holes in my screen wash jets only to find that the right side jet was pushed down. It's like someone hit it with a hammer and it's now flush with the engine bay. This begs the question of where the water from that jet is now going and how do I shove the jet back up?? Help please!

Omega General Help / Best tyres for the Omega
« on: 06 December 2009, 15:39:44 »
I need to replace my rear tyres next month, their currently Pirelli's and will cost a smal fortune to replace; are there any cheaper alternatives that won't result in increased road noise, reduced safety etc? I want to spend about £200 in total

Omega General Help / Cleaning the engine bay
« on: 06 December 2009, 15:31:42 »
My Omega runs great but looks a little un-loved under the bonnet; what should I use to get the engine bay clean? I've heard the pressure washers and steam cleaners are off-limits....thanks.

Omega General Help / stiff manual gearbox
« on: 30 November 2009, 20:48:45 »
I've got a X reg 2.5 omega with a manual gearbox. Shifting gears is not smooth, it feels a bit stiff. I just had it serviced and cambelt/water pump changed, the mechanic lubricated the gearbox but saw nothing wrong. Any ideas?

I just put down a deposit on a 07 Peugeot 307SW that hopefully will return 55mpg, I am trading in my beautiful X-reg 2.5CDX for which the bastards are only giving me £500! I bought the car in Novemebr for £950 and have since spent £1200 on new tyres, cambelt, water pump, front brakes, service, MOT etc.
The car has 4 very nice CDX rims, each with a
TOYO PXT-!-R 99 tyre. These tyres cost me £535 in total £540 after balancing, valves, tyre disposal and VAT.
I would be very happy to see the rims and tyres (which are 5 months old and have done about 7000 miles go to a good home for £150 and your old rims and tyres (I can't drive to the Peugeot dealer without wheels ;D)

OR, and it's a big or, you can buy the whole car for £1000
The car has just turned 100k three days ago and has the MOT expires in December. The car needs the disc player sent to Dave DND as it has a fault-CDC safe. Otherwise the car has very little wrong with it.

The colour is green (colour code 08L).

Omega Gallery / The Omega's replacement
« on: 05 June 2010, 20:40:48 »
I finally sold my house in Spain and have been able to replace my Omega with a newer, more economical car. The Omega was a great car and will be missed, however it went to an OOF member who is very happy with the purchase.

Below is the 55 mpg replacement with a great panoramic roof and lots of toys :)

Omega Gallery / Haverhill's Cleanest Omega?
« on: 15 March 2010, 20:02:20 »
I saw don paul's Omega after he polished it last week and was very impressed;

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1268159882

enough so that I knew my mig needed a super detail to retain the "cleanest mig in Haverhill" honour ;D

Clayed and then polished with AG SRP and finished with two coats of AG HD wax from Halfrauds £40!

Wheels waxed with HD as well!

Any other Suffolk Migs out there?

I love this one! :)

My neighbours filthy MG in the reflection

A few scratchs left, but much better than before

Yours truly
