Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Engine Cooling Fan Not Kicking In
« on: 25 February 2013, 21:54:05 »
How annoying.

For some reason the Engine Cooling Fan (?The one at the rear?) is not kicking in!
Air conditioning fans kick in without issue.

I've changed the Fan Switch and checked the relay!

Tracing back, the 'thing' that trips the relay into providing power to the fan is... not! It's not happening! I can remove the cover from the relay and manually push the relay ?'arm'? and the fan jumps into action!

But what is causing the relay not to kick in itself????

General Car Chat / Lots of work on new Miggy this week!
« on: 22 February 2013, 20:06:57 »
Been doing lots of work on the new Omega this week.

In the garage for a couple of things (bushes on wishbone and front fan relay).
I've also been prepping for putting the headrest TVs in. They were taken out of old Omega so the hard part of putting them into the headrest is done.
Just a case of sorting the wiring.

2 TVs / 1 Media Player (Sumvision MKV).

Question is, I have two inputs on the TVs so can have two devices. Should I put in a Play Station 2 for kids as well?

General Car Chat / Written Off after 15 Days
« on: 19 February 2013, 10:27:21 »
Morning all... thought i'd share my tales of misery. My wife certainly doesn't care LOL

So. I pick up an amazing 3.0 MV6 (V Reg) with awesome alloys, performance injection, imerscher kit, PS2, three screens, the works.
Bargain! But had to go all the way from Devon to the West Midlands to Rugby to pick it up.

She drives like a dream, though at about 80 she gets the wobbles. Wheels need balancing I assume!

15 days after buying her, I take her to to Exeter to get the wheels balanced. As I am sat indicating to turn right into ProTyre, a Picasso hits the back of me, sends me 180 degrees to the right, pushing up against the curb.

Needless to say I am not a happy chappy!

Find out yesterday that insurance company refuse to even assess the car and would rather just pay out on it (due to age).
I was going to insist on an assessment but, found a mint condition 2.6 V6 in grey in Plymouth.

It was on ebay and at about £500 when I saw it. Needed it now. So called the bloke up and offered him a fair amount more to take it off his hands there and then.

So... fastest turn around on getting a new miggy, which helps grieve the loss of the old one.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Remote Central Locking Fob
« on: 04 May 2010, 22:51:31 »
Hi Everyone...

So my Omega has a key and a remote central locking key fob (two button). When I bought the car, the owner said the battery would need changing. It did need it and I did change it.

However, push the button (either of them), and nothing happens (other than the lights flashing on the fob).

Any ideas?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Halfords (Exeter) Suck!!
« on: 04 May 2010, 21:53:32 »
Warning this post contains a rant!

<rant>
Ok... I know some of you will tell me off for going to Halfords but I did... I wanted a new radio, with iphone connectivity control and bluetooth and all things shiny...

I chose the stereo and opted for the same day install.
I was told to come back in 45 mins when it would all be done. Excellent news and KFC was consumed during my time away.

When I returned the little boy (yes that was meant to be sarcastic), who had fitted my new shiny radio said he could not fit the Microphone! [smiley=shocked.gif]

When I asked why his excuse was to do with the heating pipe matrix or something! Mmmm ok!

So, I was told to call Hydeparkcorner to get them to install it. Well... I did this online and they can only come out on the 17th May... that's weeks away and kinda makes it stupid to wait that long just for a mic to be installed.

I went to my local radio bloke this morning (Secure Sounds, based in Okehampton). Told him what happened and he said he'd do it there and then. It took 5 mins. Involved dropping down the fuse panel and a bit of contortion from the installer Mark and cost a simple £5.

So... why couldn't the Halfords trained tech do it.

Newbie Welcome Area / Witty Title Here... or just hi!
« on: 02 May 2010, 14:56:07 »
Hi Everyone.

I am the proud owner of a 2.5ltr V6 Omega!!
I've just changed from a Vectra and must say I LOVE this car!

I've just spent the morning wiring a "charger" up for my iPhone.
Having not done it before (not done any car stuff at all ever), I was not sure the best way to do it. So I went for back of the cig lighter socket. It all works well and power cuts when engine is off, which I wanted.

Next I think will be upgrading the lights... suggestions???
 :)

Omega Gallery / New Pictures.... Omega V6 2.6 GLS
« on: 13 August 2011, 00:11:27 »
Drove to Wales.... picked her up... Been crap crap crap weather so no new photos... but here she is anyway.

7" Monitors in the Headrests

The LPG Conversion

The 45 Litre Tank

Tank Covered

LPG Filling is a low and can be awkward to get to, but it does mean its not so obvious

---
When I got her, one of the headrest screens had literally burnt out (smells bad, won't power up, blown in wire fuse).

This was easy to replace - ebay did exact same one for under £30 -yay

I've also got two sets of wireless headphones

And a sumvision MKV media player (though not sure where to install it yet???????).

Tomorrow it is off to the garage for some inspection.
When running on LPG and accelerating past 5000 rpm there is a misfire in cylinders 5 and 6...

Hopefully tomorrow it'll be sorted.

Omega Gallery / Before I start its transformation...
« on: 12 May 2010, 14:14:54 »
Ok, so the idea is to debadge her of all vauxhall references and use the more aggressive Holden badge and decals.

Why? Well I live in the UK, but have strong connections to Australia.. and why not?

General Car Chat / So Annoyed :(
« on: 13 October 2010, 20:38:22 »
Oh I am really not impressed!!!!

Last week someone pinched the Vaux badge of the back of the car! Grrr!
Then, this morning I go out to the car and find that someone has ripped off the trim from the near side rear door!!

My car is not a spare part emporium!!!! :(

So now I have to find a badge (though maybe a holden one) and door trim!!!

Any suggestions? I can't post in the Sale/Wanted section because of the minimum 250 post!!

So, where shall i try and find one?? (Already checked local breakers yard).

Meetings, gatherings, parties etc / Devon Meet Plans?
« on: 13 August 2011, 08:55:15 »
Good Morning People.

So now I am on my Second Omega (and pretty proud of this one), when are we going to meet up in the Devon area?

I'm based outside of Exeter but anywhere in Devon could be fun! (Failing that Cornwall is doable I guess).

I do have an LPG conversion on my mig as well if anyone wants to take a look at that...

How many LPG conversions are out there....??
A fair few I would imagine! ;D

It was really nice to have an Elite owner tell me my car was a "great example" :) *very proud*
