Omega General Help / Re: Right camber for Omega
« on: 21 August 2007, 14:27:00 »
KCL, I think you need to drive this car for several hundred miles or so and monitor front tyre wear and the tyres feeling more sticky as you say at lower speeds is probably the fact that there is now more tyre in contact with the road surface as it were due to camber having been set more positive, if you see what I mean.
The rear camber is not adjustable, only the toe-in or out.
P.S can you still get Nokia tyres over there in Finland, I used to use these tyres at one time and were very good, but I suppose I would say that as I used to work for Nokia here in UK ;D

Figure suggested to me was -1.20' which should improve inner tyre wear.

Check seal on the coolant tank cap, may not be sealing properly and causing water to boil as it were.

Omega General Help / Re: Idler bushes worn
« on: 14 August 2007, 16:56:33 »
Steering idler comes complete with bush, not sure that you can buy the bush seperately anyway, Vx charge around £60 ,but you can buy it on Ebay for half that normally, even your local motor factor could probably source one for you at cheaper than Vx prices,  I take it , it's the one on passengers side (as they have said Idler) that's gone as that's the one that commonly wears on these cars. when you come to replace it there is a good how-to in maintainance guide. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1158598664

Checked mine today and guess what! Corrosion, what I've done is to gently brush loose rust flakes away using a small brass brush and start  or ignition on, to make sure no fuel squirting(face well away just in case) and have treated it with cure rust and painted it with several coats of enamel paint, I think what is happening here is that the pipe to cover joints  flex somewhat with car movement and hence is cracking the paint around the pipe to cover joint, paint then flakes off and is then open to elements/ condensation, which I think is causing them to corrode, shall be covering with some silicone sealant at a later stage as the enamel paint I've put on is probably going to crack again at some stage!!

Omega General Help / AirBag Squib
« on: 08 August 2007, 19:32:10 »
Had the airbag squib changed on my car last May, due to excessive squeaking when ambient Temp' is cool and now it's back again, making the steering feel slightly stiffer, Vx have refused to assist (as per usual) as its just ouside warranty period for that part, still think it's a disgrace as i wouldn't expect the part  become duff in that space of time as were the thoughts of my local dealership who did try on my behalf to get some come back from Vx as well as me contacting them.
Has anyone managed to quieten one down, without taking it apart?
Cheers Pete

When you press ECO so that the ECO on the display is off and only Auto is displayed , then try pressing the Auto button and see what happens, also have you tried the servo reset procedure ,which resets vents etc. should explain in the owners manual.
