Omega General Help / Re: performance backbox/exhaust??
« on: 22 July 2008, 07:21:55 »
Thanks for the links...
Think i may still be going down the custom made cat back exhaust, as i don't fancy paying about £280 just for the back box.
Will put pictures up when i have had it fitted.

Omega General Help / performance backbox/exhaust??
« on: 21 July 2008, 20:56:13 »
As the title goes, any idea's where one would buy a performance exhaust from?
I can't seem to find anywhere.
The only companies i can find are ones that will custom make one.
I'm looking at buying either a cat back system or just a good backbox.

Omega General Help / Re: clocks
« on: 21 July 2008, 20:33:31 »
i don't know if there is a difference or not.
i've got myself another set of clocks coming, hopefully these ones will work lol
if not i may take you up on your offer chris.
But yeah, if you get pulled by the police and they ask you how fast you were going, and you reply with "i don't know orifice? how fast was i going?", "i don't honestly know, as my speedo doesn't work"
Will that stand up in court?
As it passed an mot???

yes, the other clocks did fit.
but the main shock is it passed the mot, and it's not even a dodgy garage, been taking my cars there for years

Omega General Help / clocks

Believe it or not you don't need your dashboard clocks to be working for an mot pass!!
My rev counter doesn't work, and the speedo does a mean twitch.
I bought another set of clocks off ebay, but they are not the right ones for my miggy.
The colour of the plastic on the back of the clocks is different, and it has a couple of bulbs missing.[/img]

Omega General Help / Possible head gasket gone??
« on: 18 July 2008, 19:04:13 »
I think i have got a problem with my mv6.
I have owned the car about 4 weeks, hasn't been driven as its got no t & t.
I checked the oil on day of purchase, cap and dip, both were clear and fine, looks like it had an oil change in the previous months.
Replaced a few bits today, and thought, i know, i'll top up the water and check the oil before the trip to the garage.
Water is fine, oil is fine, but when i lifted the oil cap, i almost fell over with shock!!!
There was quite a bit of mayo.
I've cleaned all the mayo from the top of the oil filler and everything seems fine.
There's no oil in the water, it isn't going down, the car isn't getting hot, and the oil on the dip stick is perfectly clear.
My question is, is this right??
I currently drive a v6 vectra until the miggy is on the road, and i've never had any problem with that.
I have noticed on a couple of pages on here, about mayo building up from short journeys?
I have started the car a few times since buying it, would that be the problem?
Any answers would be appreciated.

Omega General Help / Re: Genuine Vx Exhaust Price
« on: 18 July 2008, 22:36:31 »
I've tried quite a few places to find a performance exhaust, the best way i have found to go is down the custom build one.
I have been quoted around £350 for a cat back system (single), or about £450 for a twin exhaust system.
Both systems come with a lifetime garauntee
Dunno if this helps

Omega General Help / Cruise control....
« on: 05 July 2008, 23:52:45 »
I have a 98 mv6, doesn't have cruise control, but would be interested in getting it installed.
How hard would it be to get installed?
What parts are required?
And, how big a job would it be?

Omega General Help / Re: Paperclip test - Results
« on: 05 July 2008, 18:25:59 »
thanks trebor...
Had a look behind the two pipes you mentioned, the solenoid behind it is broken, so it looks like that is the problem.
Thanks again...

Omega General Help / Paperclip test - Results
« on: 05 July 2008, 17:16:14 »
Hi everyone, i am after an answer with the above.
Just done the test, and got the results...
12 - 133 - 12.
Obviously the 12 is telling me the test has started, and 133 is the  Intake Manifold Valve 2 Voltage Low.
My problem is.... what is the "Intake Manifold Valve 2 Voltage Low"
Is it a simple job? or costly?
The only other job i've got to sort, is that my rev counter doesn't work, and not does my speedo, but it does a mean twitch  ;D
Can anyone help??
Steve

Hi Greg, that's my old car.
Any questions feel free to ask.
I have hundreds of photos of it, from the first day i bought it, when it turned up on the back of a lorry, to the day it went  :'(

Hello mate, welcome back! I saw your old estate for sale on e-gay last week!! :y
So did i, that's why i've bought another one.
I spoke to the new owner, and haggled him down to £400, but after a good chat he told me what condition it was in.
The complete front end needed attention, wishbones etc, and with a 120 mile drive home, i though i'd give it a miss
