Omega General Help / Re: Removing throttle cable...
« on: 16 February 2010, 10:16:17 »
I always understood that there was a spring seized clip inside the ball - separate to the pin that is removed/missing.

Then again ,both times I have tried to remove a throttle cable I failed.  I now leave the TB on the car when I'm removing the plenum.

If its 3L , you would expect consumption to be a bit lower.  Are they both autos -if the previous one was manual that would make a big difference, esp round town .

A good service, new filters, plugs, breather clean, pump tyres up may improve things.

Has the timing belt been done recently and properly?

If the exhaust is on the way out that may also affect consumption.

that looks rather strange.

why has it got a facelift dash?

Well spotted!  :y
I saw the facelift dash & just assumed facelift car, but it's a 94 car and it also has pre facelift door cards with electric window switches on the centre console.  :-/  :-/

::)he did say that in the original post.. ;)   and it seems to be a 98 rather than 94 per his sig.

I do wonder why anyone would change the dash though(I'm surpised it even fits) :-/

I would try rebleeding them again for starters.

Well for reference it turned out to be the cranksensor despite no code 19.

I think I do have a spare crank sensor that came with my 3.2.  As I understand correctly, its the same part for 3.2 and 3.0 - if so, I can give that a try.

Not silly suggestions..

Not sure if fuel issues would throw up fault codes :-/

I will certainly check DIS pack connections, but I would be surprised if it failed completely all of a sudden.  The car has been running fine up until the night before.

Any other opinions before I lash out on a new crank sensor?

Cheers

I have tried with both keys - no joy.

Well paperclip test done and only getting a 31 - no surprise as its not running.

Its got almost a full tank of fuel.

Any ideas where to look next?   Could it still be crank sensor even if no code 19?

Cheers,
Ian

got enough motion lotion in it?

yep plenty of love potion,  but I wouldn't rule out silly user error.  Mrs has left it in D before which I think disables starting.

No. 2 mig (3L mini f/l elite) wouldn't start this morning.  Turned over fine but not a hint of firing.
It was running fine yesterday according to mrs ians.

I will do the paperclip test later, but anyone care to place a bet...?

I have never had a crankshaft sensor go on any of the 4 migs I've owned - maybe I'm overdue :-X

As above, give it a good clean up per Grumpy and see how it goes.  It will likely to it a power of good and costs next to nothing but a bit of time.

That's not too disatrous.

On the face of it the prices are not bad but it comes down to what quality parts they use and whether they do the job properly.

Given the weather and your arhritis I would be inclined to accept (unless one of the mechanics on here is close enough to you..) but check that he will do the handbrake properly (check the guide on here) and torque the wishbone up with the car on the ground.

NB you should really do the wishbone in pairs and will need a geometry esp camber set up afterwards.
