Had we joined the euro when a lot of "experts" said it would be economically catastrophic if we didnt, we would now be in that situation.
Unbelievably those same "experts"* are now preaching that to leave the EU would be economically catastrophic.  ::)

* Heseltine, Clarke, Blair, Branson, the CBI,almost anyone of a left wing persuasion who isn't a real socialist, most global conglomerates. Strange bedfellows, who between them always fail to make a compelling case, and resort to fear tactics instead.

General Car Chat / Re: Omega classic
« on: 29 June 2015, 16:17:53 »
Vauxhalls very rarely achieve classic status in the car world. The LC is one of the few that spring to mind which have.
Even most of the VX,s from decades ago aren't particularily thought of as classics by most people. The reason why is a mystery to me, but it is generally an unloved marque, compared to Ford and other mass produced marques.
Its also strange to me that to my knowledge, Wheeler dealers have never had a Vauxhall episode in all the years they have been  "restoring" cars on TV.
Omegas will imo, never achieve any kind of classic status outside the ever declining band of people on this site.

edit. DBG was evidently typing much the same sentiments as me (albeit much more eloquently) , at the same time.  ;D

Well, it was mostly slight variations on themes they had covered many times before - but, the chemistry between the three of them, and the fact that it was still miles better than almost anything else on TV nowadays, means the ginger knobhead has a very hard act to follow.
I actually felt slightly emotional at the end. No more Top Gear as we know it - ever.  :'(

The compensation should come from the pension funds and sale of assets of the councillors who stood for public office, but didn't know about the equal pay act, imo.  :)

General Discussion Area / Re: Sky for £25 a month?
« on: 26 June 2015, 20:05:08 »
As are most of the Sky channels. I have recently (much to my surprise) taken to watching box set type stuff on Sky. I thought Justified was probably the best thing Ive ever seen. Watched all six seasons about five times.
Ive now started into the West wing, which is well worth watching, and looking forward to Breaking bad, which is reported to be excellent.
I only watch BT sport for the MotoGp. Apparently they are soon going to charge an extra £10 per month (?) for subscribers who watch MotoGP., which will be a real kick in the teeth for those poor unfortunates who actually have to pay for it.  :-X ::)

Had over 500 of them in a chest freezer a few years back. Ate around 50 of them, gave about 300 away, and eventually chucked the rest in the bin. ;D

Presumably with a different board :-\

Nope. They don't even need to do that. I have a feeling that there may be a change of M.D. or Chairman required, and a change of company name (but that change can be so small as to be unnoticeable) but all that means is that everyone at the boardroom table moves their job title plague one place to the right, or left, and a new sign hung over the front door, with nothing changing in reality.
Its quite common these days for companies (even those with hundreds of employees) to do this. It allows them to pay their employees no redundancy pay, nor even pay them wages owed. Also any money owed to suppliers etc. will get written off. This often has a knock on effect and ruins other (perfectly solvent & honest )companies, costing more jobs.
Don't know how people can do that and sleep at night, or look at themselves in the mirror, but maybe that's why Im not rich.

Should be interesting, he has a personal passion for cars. Only have to look at his personal collection to know that, huge collection.

Better that, than someone to 'front' it who has no interest in cars, but looks good on TV.

Not sure if the passion for cars/bikes will translate into a good show, or how will get on with other(s)? Be fair to give him a shot.

Although it could be he is only presenting the up coming special and nothing else, this is just to hype it up!

I don't think he has a passion for cars, music or anything else. His only passion is his enormous ego. Hes a famous DJ who doesn't love music, it just gives him a vehicle to talk non stop and make lots of money.
He has bought lot of very expensive cars, paid millions for some of them ,but I don't believe he is passionate about the cars. He just loves the ego trip that comes from owning things that most other people would love to own, but could never afford.
He is a vacuous, soulless, irritating knob, who will hopefully die on his arse when he takes over the job.

Apart from that, he is a lovely chap. :y ;D

Probably depends how old the C180 is. A mid 90,s example should be straightforward. I dread to think of what the procedure might be on a current model.

And of course these days what exactly does "your country" mean ? The country you live in ? The country you were born in ? The country which you are culturally / religiously / ancestorally attached to ?

Why dont you start your own forum, and do what you want  :y

Please go to page two of this thread and read my reply to your previous post.
I don't care how many posts are required to sell cars or parts on here. I have no interest on selling things on here. Im not asking for the rules to be changed. Personally I don't care one way or the other.
I simply thought it might be something worth discussing. No more or less than that.
It succeeded, as the thread now runs to 10 pages (a rare thing on OOF), and most people (you being a very notable exception) have actually read the thread and had had some constructive input to offer.

Veering back slightly towards the original topic - I was going to post a reply on a for sale thread yesterday, but was surprised to find I don't have that option. Is that also due to a certain number of posts being required ?  :-\
Yup ;)
What? Like in the title of the thread you mean? ;D

No. The thread title is about the fact that members cannot post for sale adverts until they have accrued at least 250 posts.
I didn't realise until today, that members with less than 250 posts, apparently also cant post replies in for sale threads.
I fail to understand the reasoning behind that tbh.  :-\
