When fitting cruise control to a 3.0lt v6 auto, is the 4pin brake pedal switch fitted in place of the original brake pedal switch for the brake lights or aswell as the original switch. On mine there is a spare position for a switch(square hole)
the existing 2 pin one is replaced with a 4 pin one

or in my case , a short bit of wire.

Omega General Help / Re: Still overheating.
« on: 09 January 2008, 03:38:45 »
nope, bridging the fan to full power constantly does nothing for the temp, except the noise scaring small dogs and cats in the area.
i thought it was a flow problem in the rad/ or dead spots  to start with, but after flushing wasnt sure.
but swapping the rad out is the easyer of several jobs so,,,,,,,

Omega General Help / Still overheating.
« on: 08 January 2008, 15:24:29 »
i know i mentioned this many moons ago, btut decided to have a proper look as i was waiting on some other parts.
at a gentel pace the coolant soon goes up to 95-97.5 c on the guage. hard driving makes it get there a lot quicker.
the coolant is geting hot, both the top and bottom hoses are very hot.
the aux water pump on the cruise control is opumping away quite happily. the rad fan doesnt seem to kick in at all. the 2 push fans come on with the air con.
the aux pump down by the passenger side of the rad isnt making any noises when hot or cold.

sticking the heater on full blast quickly brings the temp back down to around 95c very quiclkly. turning t off allows the temp to rise back up.

removed the white relay and the cruise control pump kept on pumping.dont have a spare to swap it with :(

removed the top and bottom hoses, pushed water through the rad with a mains pressure hose, seams to flow freely, both ways. flushed back up through the engine through top and bottom pipes.
water flowing freely i would guess.

any other suggestions ??

oh and the radiator aux pump works when i power straight from the battery.

the main rad fan works if i remove the switch plug and bridge it out.but seams to have no effect on the temp.

 :-/

im praying its not the water pump, im still recovering from a month long holiday and christmas

Omega General Help / orunning hot/thermstat/coolant/fan switch
« on: 07 June 2007, 22:22:32 »
so
ok , im strange/mad, but at work around 3 in the morning i was bored ,so decided to investigate my cooling issues a little.
took ages to reach 95 on the guage,( fan still linked out,( on slow speed at the mo)
quickly got to 97 and stayed there (all at idle)
opened the expansion tank cap.slightly pressurised,
but water inside was still cool to the touch.

hmmmmmm.

so thoughts please.

is my stat stuck shut ?
or blockage in rad / water pump stuffed ?

Omega General Help / overheating ?
« on: 01 June 2007, 22:11:00 »
during the cooler weather car runs at around 92.5 to 95 deg
recently its been running at 95 to 97
during the last 2 days its been reaching 100 .

the ad fan seams to kick in around 101 deg is this right, i know the red line is a little bit higher but still seams a little high to me.

flushed and replaced the coolant this after noon. seams a little better. gets to 100 slowly. (was sat still running )
both air con fans kick in when air con on but dont seam to afect the temp.

running with the heater on at full blast gets it back to 95, but im not mad enough to run around with the heater on when its 26 outside.

any ideas :)

do you have an instrument dimer on the headlight switch ?
check that. my old sennys one used to kill lights if set to high. or you may have brushed it and set it to low.
or your bulbs are blown.

after that pass :)

Omega General Help / autobox leak = oh b******s
« on: 17 April 2007, 09:15:24 »
 :o
my sump bolts are all striped and spinning, so took it round to local auto box specialists,as i rearly dont have the time, inclination, patience, space or tools to remove ,drill out and helicoil the gear box sump bolts in situ.

so they poped it up oin there ramps, and .....

the leaks not from the sump,(so it must be held up up with some good mastic :) )

its coming from between the cases. quoted 1500 to pull down strip and replace.

so , seeing as ive got another car comin with a oh so handy ar35 box attatched, how many 12 hour days of blood sweat and tears am i facing trying to do a auto box swap on my gravel drive ................????????????????
