There's only one coil pack and it was tested when the oil cooler failed but all was ok.

General Car Chat / Coil pack breakdown
« on: 22 March 2017, 11:12:11 »
A couple of days ago I started my car as useual and it ran as smoothly as normal.
As I got to work she began to run very lumpy and was struggling for power, luckily Wilbury have squeezed me in  and managed to diagnose the problem.
The coil pack is all cracked with casing missing on one side and was failing to fire 1 and 6.
I am supprised that it broke down so fast but thankfully should be on the road by tonight

The cabin is dry, not fried opening the rear windows, I think the rear vents are open although you can hear the air change direction effectively when you move from cabin to screen etc.
In the side pockets of the boot is a first aid kit, jump Leeds a bottle of auto glym and a cloth But that's it.

General Car Chat / Re: Big insurance hikes all round ?
« on: 14 March 2017, 21:59:01 »
After reading about the insurance hike I went on line and was pleased to note my quote has dropped, ok still roughly double the cars value but it's better than £700 I was quoted because I have 5 years experience in this type of car according to the log book.
The fact I've been restoring it since 2008-2009 and have been driving for 18 odd years isn't taken into account.
Neather is the fact it could be insured and live in a garage as a second car for 12 months.
It seems to me that if you or I tryed ramping prices up it's fraud, if an insurance company does it it's ok

General Car Chat / Re: Omega as a future classic
« on: 14 March 2017, 21:25:46 »
I know my standard CD has begun to generate a bit of interest when I'm at the pumps,  nice care mate, not many of my them about etc.
This has taken some getting used too as I've never driven a car that's generated this much interest before.
Financially I will argue that it costs me less to look after my omega a year than it does to keep smokers and drinkers in comfort for the same amount of time and while it's no multi million pound classic it does make me feel special when people give admiring glances and comment on her condition.
On those grounds I'd say yes it's a classic.

As far as I know the vents are clear, not sure about the pollen filter, the cars getting hot just takes a while to warm the screen enough to do some good.
