Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re:  Phone pre-wiring
« on: 13 November 2006, 00:20:01 »
Hi Boilerman,

On some facelifts the CCR2006 is prewired for mobiles. The connector is usually taped to the top of the glovebox. This can usually be reached by removing the kick plate located just below and behind the glove box and then reaching up behind the box. I ended up taking the glovebox out (need to remove passenger airbag and side vents first) only to find there was no adaptor.

I wired my Nokia carkit directly to the CCR2006 by connecting straight into the plug connector at the back of the radio. This is pretty straightforward but needs the radio removed and the radio cage taken out to get reasonable access to the connector and wiring. The power connections are fairly obvoius but the mute and audio connections are on pins 24 (mute) and 25/26 audio in.
These pins are also used by the trafficmaster system but, as I dont use it, I disconnect the mute lead from the traffic master.

Using the mute wire and audio input allows the radio or cd to be muted and the call to be played through your stereo speakers. You can also preset the volume of the call. This will happen whether you are using the stereo or not when a call comes in.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Omega General Help / Re: Heater bypass valve?  Any advice?
« on: 05 March 2007, 22:05:12 »
I did this job last weekend. £25+VAT for the valve. £14 for the tool to get the clips off (Halfrauds). Two hours to get the wipers off. The rest is easy but fiddly. Take the scuttle off - 7 screws hidden under window rubber, one on the drivers side inner wing.

HBV is difficult to get to... got my better half to help out here - she has smaller hands!

Oh and the comment about the plasters...hmmm well you'll find out! :'(

Good luck!

thank you for the pic.. i will try to look under it and see what is wrong. is there any way i can test the sensor??

I disconnected the link between the sensor and the suspension arm and, with the ignition and headlights on, rotated the sensor to chack whether the headlamps moved up and down in relation to the position the sensor was in. Not totally conclusive but usually gives an indiaction of where the fault may be.

can you please take a picture so that i can see where these sensors are?? i get headlamp range message and my rear suspension isn't leveling itself, but i don't know where the headlight sensors and the suspension one is located.

Not the best of pictures but this is the front headlight level sensor. Left hand side of car mounted between engine sump and lower wishbone...

Thanks Chris. Both sensors are fine. Rear one operates the air pump for the rear shocks.

Gonna pull the headlamp unit out and see what I find...

Omega General Help / Headlamp Range fault on Xenon's
« on: 02 May 2010, 23:30:34 »
Got the dreaded "Headlamp Range" warning coming on and my MOT is due. Tested sensor on nearside suspension and works fine but only operates one headlamp (offside).

Do the servo's fail often on these? This is the first problem I've had with headlamp servo's - or will it just need a clean and a bit of lub?

Ouch. Just been to the stealers to enquire about new springs. They are a different part number from coil springs on non-self levelling models - pn 90295666 - and come in at £340.75 for the pair  ;D :D ;D (only sold in pairs too).

So, in answer to my earlier question on what the difference was between self levelling coils and non self levelling coils?...... about £300 quid !!!  >:( >:( >:(

As I said above... I replaced mine with standard saloon ones and haven't noticed any adverse effects :y :y

Too right. Although I have just phoned a local factor who says he can get me an equivalent for £45. I'll check them out tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies. I cant see any visual difference on the springs - maybe it's the loading.

Omega General Help / Broken Rear Spring
« on: 16 January 2010, 17:33:42 »
Just broken a rear spring on my 3.2 Elite due to driving on rutted ice in freezing temperatures. Problem is I cant find a replacement anywhere - all the parts listed seem to be for models without self levelling suspension. Are the springs really that different?

Any ideas where I can get replacements or is a visit to the stealers?

Car is advertised as a GLS but has leather and non-GLS wheels. There are a few things that don't add up with this car but most worrying for me is the lack of a V5.  :-?

Avoid. Another one will come along soon.

Flash the codes up using the throttle pedal trick..

Find it here... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

That will confirm whether it is crank sensor or not  :y

Seat should go way forward with the top runner overlapping the bottom by about 4 inches. Total movement forward to back is about a foot.

Doesn't take much to stop the movement though - could be a combination of poor lubrication plus a small piece of debris either on the drive worm or on the track.

Does the seat move freely and smoothly up to the point it stops? If it move slowly and heavily then it may just be a lub problem give it a blast of spray oil or grease.
