Squealing that disappears when the brake is pressed is probably due to the pads building up a sharp edge which rubs on the disk. If the pads turn out to have plenty of meat on them, file a chamfer on the edges and they'll quieten down.

Hang on.. didn't you change your pads at Tidworth?

Yep. New leads will fail quickly if they are allowed to get contaminated with oil.. so:

Change cam cover gaskets and clean breathers
Change leads
Change coil pack if you still ahve a problem

Parts only im afraid and only service parts at that, although when you get to know the parts lad they tend to give you a bit of discount on other bits.

The service manager always wants to pull your pants down

That's nice to know I go and pay her a visit at the local  vx dealers, she if she will give me a service    

Would it be worth the 90 quid an hour though?

You can get a better hourly rate elsewhere.

As said, his prices are high but the market appears to support them. Having seen a few of his cars when I was looking I know he doesn't budge on those prices whatsoever. His cars are very good, however. I saw roughly equivalent Omegas being sold for 2k less through network Q when I was looking. I don't know how he gets away with this but there must be demand for mint, low mileage Omegas.

After all, there's very little to compare with them now. All the mainstream car manufacturers now only offer FWD euroboxes, people carriers and 4x4s, and some people don't want a BMW / Merc (or won't pay the premium for the badge).

This used to apply to me when I helped make cough sweets! I could never understand why I'd to fill the bugger in when I was PAYE though, even the local tax office talked themselves into a hole trying to justify themselves. When Cadbury took over & my tax office moved to Brum they said I no longer needed to fill 1 in. Presumably it depends how your tax office interprets the rules. :-/
Putting beanz in tinz doesn't pay well enough (contrary to local belief  ) to worry aboout 40% tax

The problem is, everything else that's taxed automatically is done at the basic rate, so although your salary will have been taxed correctly through PAYE, your bank / building society interest, any share dividends, etc. etc. wouldn't. In most cases the difference is pennies, of course, and they work this out after a few tax returns and adjust your tax code to compensate.

I pay someone to do mine as I can't be bothered

Quite often someone experienced will find plenty of ways to save you money too, so the overall cost of employing someone to do it may be negative. For example, do business miles in a 3.2 Omega and you can claim a tax rebate on much more than the the paltry amount of mileage allowance your company will give you.

You are responsible for owning up to any untaxed income and requesting one. Depends if you have anything complicated in your finances and/or earn into the top tax band.

IME they'll send you one for a few years and if it doesn't change much from one year to the next they start sending you a much simpler form to fill in.

US one or UK one.....I have seen the US ones and they are like war and peace......Uk ones are dead easy in comparison!

US ones range from dead simple to stacks of paper. UK seems to be similar, except not familiar with all the terms and classifications so struggling with which 'extra pages' I need.

A fairly simple request for information made as complicated as possible

I find the online filing works well, but don't even think about trying to log on this time of year!

I know that having the A/C on will drop the MPG but would the heat system do the same :question

The AC doesn't make such a big difference as people say. Well under 1MPG I reckon, and during the summer months it is more than offset by the fact that the engine warms up quicker, IMHO.

The heater should make no difference. It's only waste heat that would otherwise have been dissipated in the radiator.
