The scuttle's easy enough to take off to get full access to the mechanism.

As for cost of parts - if you have a look in the "Parts for Sale" section, there's quite a few members in there breaking Omega's and selling parts.  If you ask the question in there, no doubt you'll get one for much less than going to your local scrappy  :y

can you just buy the valve by its own? oh well you learn something new everyday. if not too much trouble can you give me the part number for that valve!  :y

Yes, the valve is available on its own, though the A/C experts might tell you that you need the complete pipe assembly too. andyc found the part number for me for this valve (ie the larger ally valve at the front of the car). I'll see if I can dig the receipt out tomorrow.  :y

My local stealers wanted hundreds of pounds to replace the pipe when I had a leaking valve.  :o :o :o

Valve replaced for a few quid, regassed and sorted.  ;)

It doesn't give you much confidence when even the dealers with access to EPC & TIS don't know what parts are available.  :-? :-?

That it doesn't Mr B - and I still owe you one for pointing it out to me, I would've been a good hundred squids out of pocket if you didn't!

If ever you fancy your engine detailing (either after work, or if working at weekend - drop yours off at my place, and take my motor to work till you finish your shift) in return, just say the word  :y

Was leaking out of the low-pressure fill (I think that's what it's called anyway  :-/) valve on mine - as found by AndyB when he took the dust cap off.  If he hadn't have done, I'd have had a job of finding the leak as wouldn't have thought of checking that!

Anyway, ordered the new valve (about £6), banged it on, got it re-charged, and jobs a good un!  :y

When the v8.com Omega was originally conceived (before obviously being canned) - was it the LS1 or LS2 engine that was fitted?  (I can't see it have being the Northstar V8 they envisaged fitting to it)  :-/

Don't think it really matters TBH...  Although I'd be inclined to do it cold to aviod burning myself on the exhaust

Yep, you're right Rob - just dug out the guide on changing the diff oil, and T50 it is...  :-[  ;D :

IIRC, SAE90 semi-synthetic (with LSD additive if it's an LSD diff).

Fill it till it comes out of the hole.

Just to add - the filler plug is half-way up on the drivers side of the diff, need a Torx bit to get it out (T30 seems to stick in my mind, but not 100% on that...)

Omega General Help / Leccy Height Adjustment - Worm Drive?
« on: 19 March 2011, 00:39:25 »
Hi Folks,

Quick question...

The passenger front seat isn't as quick going up and down as it used to be.  Having a flick through the Maintenance Guides (such an exciting life I lead on a Friday night...  :-[  :D ), I saw this helpful guide:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1163236766

I've ran my hand from the top to the bottom of the threaded part of the shaft (which I assume is the worm drive), from the back of the seat, and towards the motor-side (at the front), there's a bearing of some sort which attaches to nothing?  It just spins freely? Double-checked it with driver-side, and that has exactly the same bearing attached to nothing - or so it would seem?

By the way - driver's side goes up and down electrically just fine, prob cos when the wife drives, she has the seat right up to the top, but I prefer it lower down.

I can see "how" the worm drive works, with there being moving brackets between the seat base and the seat frame which will alter the height depending if it's wound up or down (and move it closer to the pedals on the up-wind, and further away on the down-wind), but can't see or feel any bracket which attaches the seat brace to the frame - if that makes any sense??  :-[  The worm-drive just seems to be "floating" to me - am I missing something???

Cheers  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Waterproofing my new(ish) dispack
« on: 25 February 2011, 01:33:51 »
I reckon a decent de-greasing, then going over with a couple of coats of silicone spray would do the job - it used to keep moisture at bay for donkies when I fitted alarms, so expect it'd do the job with the odd drip from a scuttle?

When the engine is up to running temperature, feel the water hoses to check they're hot.

Also, check the hoses at the back of the engine which run into the heater matrix - check they feel hot too.

May be worthwhile bleeding the system - run the engine with the coolant cap off, and "burp" (or squeeze) the hoses to get rid of any airlocks.

If that doesn't work, it may be time to flush out your coolant system - there's a "How To" in the Maintenance Guide section of this forum  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Problem - misfire and EML on :-(
« on: 16 November 2010, 22:09:29 »
I'll check the foam under the skuttle in the morning to see if it's wet.  But didn't notice it being so when I was checking for loose connections (even though I wasn't specifically looking for it).

As for the dispack rubbers/corrosion...  I keep looking at the "how to" guide on removing them, and have to keep closing it due to getting quite overfaced by the task  :-[  :-[    ;D

Shall have to pluck up the courage to whip them off I suppose...  :-[

Cheers  :y

Incidentally, I've done 40 miles since the problem first occurred, and it's not happened again since?  EML still on though...
