Omega Electrical and Audio Help / black box on throttle cable
« on: 01 February 2009, 16:38:00 »
Whilst taking bits off the elite that I broke a while back, I took off the throttle cable just incase I should ever need it. The cable has a black box with an electrical connector on it, im assuming this it s throttle sensor or something, were all models fitted with this or just the elites?

cant remember seeing it on the 2.0's when I had them.

cheers

Steve

I have 3 changers here, all of which were perfect when I removed them from the cars I broke, but when I tested them a couple of weeks ago, they all did the a strange thing. they would select the tracks/discs perfectly but play them like a scratchy record, so thinking its dust from sitting in he garage, or my head unit.  :-/

If it proves to tbe the headunit I will let you know and you can have one of them  :y

afaik, it just goes blank in that section when the radio is on, and shows the date as normal when the radio is off. thats how it behaved when I had my JVC unit in.

 ;)

If its the philips DC012 (going by your profile) then the laser will be fubar'd due to excess play of cd-r's  Dave DND explained this to before somewhere, but the laser knackers itself trying to focus on the cdr data as its written differently to genuine discs.

As philips no longer exist their parts dept no longer produce parts for this changer, so Im afraid you will have to find a direct replacement, or go that other route ann said

1996 models wont let you turn the radio on with the key in postition 1, howerver 97 model onwards do, they changed the setup of the ignition wiring.

try the small rectangular relays in the fusebox under the steering wheel, one of them controls the high beam, could be jammed on.
