Update:- FM Transmitter works fine no need for cables :y
even more update:- TT do a RDS Traffic reciever that uses the USB port...so why not include that in the box instead grrrrrr! I've sent them an email asking for an exchange...I'll keep you posted.

I'ts got an FM transmitter built into it but I'm struggling to get the radio to pick up the signal. Going to try again today now I've figured out how to tune it manually.

TT seem to bring out great products but let themselves down when it comes to thisngs like the ipod cable which can't be plugged in at the same time as the RDS traffic reciever!

According to the manual, external sources can be connected to the 2005 but it needs to be done by VX (yea right!)
Back in the real world can any of you geniussss tell me what can be connected and how us mere mortals go about doing it?

Surely if you announce to the world you have a secret, even if you didn't mean it directly then the world is going to ask you what it is.
I sent a PM at the same time as Dodger and yet he has had a reply and I don't. yet we have similar status.

Dave if you wish to share your secret with others that is of course entirely up to you I will not think any more or less of you one way or the other....as you say I don't know you

Over the last few weeks I have felt more confident joining in on conversations that I'm not directly invited too. On the whole everybody is very helpful. I understand you feeling annoyed that your intergrity was being questioned but as for threatening behaviour that is not what I would expect from the adults that post here.[smiley=thumbdown.gif]
Let's hope that some of the newbies that have just joined don't read too far into this post, or we may just frighten them away.

Brilliant thanks guys,
plastic lug had broken off of the back of the cigarette lighter and had dropped inside stopping the rest of the ashtray from closing  >:(

Omega General Help / Facelift front ashtray removal
« on: 03 May 2011, 13:36:29 »
For some reason the ashtray in the front is now open and won't shut. The cigarette lighter has gone all loose and floppy. I don't use either and it's no biggie leaving it open but it would be nice to fix it if it doesn't mean taking the entire car apart!
Any ideas how to get it out so I can see what may be causing the problem?

Halfrauds also want £70+ for the bigger variety.
Not sure if a Trade Card is any good for Batteries? A few others on here will know for sure.

Thanks Brian T,  would you reccomend a vx kit or one like gates which are cheaper, has anyone used a gates kit , i've seen them on ebay for £40-50, i assume you get the back plate and idlers in it

VX, Gates or Contitech are reccomended on here by most. I used a company called http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/ for mine and they supplied a contitech kit.
I'm sure the V6'ers on here will give you sound advice....and more pertinent!

Hi Mikemeega,

VX changed their schedule from 80k to 40k some years ago now. Most of the peeps on here would suggest changing it if you have no reliable proof of when it was last changed. In any case if it's not been changed since 2002 regardless of the milage I think I'd sleep better at nights knowing it was done.
The kit's contain all the bits you need and are not too expensive even without a trade card.
I did mine with the forums advice although mine is only a 4 pot. but from what I've heard if you follow the DVD and the How2 on the site http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1156070744 you can't go wrong :y

If my foraging around on here has paid off then your problem may well be the HBV. there is a how2 http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1193594464
I'd wait for confirmation from one of the more experienced though

Genuine copies available through Vx/Opel, terribly expensive AFAIK.

Also have heard that illegal/non-genuine copies are available, but we are not allowed to discuss them here :-X
:(
Phrase I'm looking for now rhymes with bucket
