Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: deadlocked drivers door
« on: 11 June 2012, 22:36:33 »
Hi Rob

Yes turning the key worked.
I needed to use 2 hands and then use the door handle to make to post pop up
I think that the plug connector must have become strained since the door opening limit lever broke.
That's another job that a previous owner did poorly. I need to check that the plug makes good connections & is secure

Many thanks for your timely advice

I planning to put an oil separator into the plenium breather and wonder who might have experience. One bank of cylinders seem to burn more oil than the mate.

Hi Rob

Which way should the key be turned? It turns abt 45degress clockwise and I can see slight movement in the locking post but otherwise it refuses to lift

I have reviewed whats wrong and believe that the deadlock mechanism is not operating in any of the doors even those which still unlock
Can anyone tell me how to check and activate this circuit?
The garagists I have discussed this problem think that the lock is jammed and that the door trim will need to be destroyed to gain access.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / deadlocked drivers door
« on: 11 June 2012, 12:11:19 »
The driver's door on my 1999 Tourer will not open. Its deadlocked.
Any suggestions on how to reactivate it?
The other doors can be opened. The keylock does nothing
repeatedly pressing the fob now appears to have disabled the whole system.
Yours in distress Paul

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Power sounder & heavy steering
« on: 18 March 2012, 17:18:33 »
The Power Sounder has started sounding intermittently for abt 15 sec and then every 15 or so min when I am driving my 2.5 Tourer.  Also the steering feels heavier.  Is the Power Sounder  faulty? Is the steering change related or a coincidence? Advice please. >:(

Hi
I occasionally have this problem.  I have found the cause to be the bonnet close sensor, it happens especially when sunshine expands the bonnet.  I increased the padding above the switch.

Omega General Help / Re: connector for fuel filter replace
« on: 02 December 2011, 21:36:01 »
Hi Bionic

I visited my friendly Vaux dealer today and he could not locate a part number for the female connector to the fuel filter from fuel pipe. The parts explosion only shows complete pipes available.
He suggested I could buy a connector pipe fitted to a Corsa #9129788, a special order @£26, or get the connectors from a breaker.
Incidentally one connector is  straight the other an elbow.

Omega General Help / Re: Coolant leak 2.5 V6
« on: 02 December 2011, 21:27:53 »
Hi
The pressure test is best way forward. Perhaps you can borrow a small mobile compressor.
My 25XE leaked from the cylinder head gasket above the dis coil pack. I discovered this when replacing the dis for 2nd time in 3 yrs.
Use a mirror on a wand to look around.  You probally will need to remove th plenium to see below it.
Expect to find discoloration and deposits around the coolant bridge but don't jump to conclusions unless there is liquid coolant

Omega General Help / connector for fuel filter replace
« on: 26 November 2011, 19:27:06 »
I have sucessfully replaced the steering idler arm, its pivot bracket the end linkages on both sides of the track rod, and steering idler am, and am now defeated by the inaccessible position of the fuel filter on my estate. It has been a nightmare to remove and the connector on the pipe to the engine has been damaged in the process. Can anyone give advice on whether the connector can be obtained and on replacing the damaged one perhaps both would be better.  Hopefuily the replacement of the fuel line will not be the only remedy.

I would like to add some suggestions on the procedures  already posted. How can I do this?

Omega General Help / Re: Coolant leak
« on: 04 November 2011, 23:19:55 »
My 1999 2.6 had a leak at the back of the left (passenger side) cylinder head which was damaging the dis, 2 in fact. I pressureized the cooling system and could see a spurt. I believe the the head gasket has failed near a waterway. I needed to top up the reservoir at least every few weeks. I have inserted 1 bottle of K Seal which has stopped the leak since April 2011. K Seal was specifically developed for the leaking head gasket in the Rover K series engine which I also have.  The Rover engine had a slight leak and after months of searching neither my garage or I could identify where it arose.  This was years ago and I still have a leak free Rver engine!
Hope this helps

I have had a Powerflow system fitted from the cat back for £350 to the 3 -3.2l spec with twin tail pipes
There is a hum at low speed but otherwise totaly unobtrusive without a roar.
The fitting appears to be to high standard.
The longlife franchise phoned me this Monday to tell me they did not work the weekend or Fri afternoon. When I told them the PF price they told me to grab it.

I have just purchased the steering idler arm from vauxhallworldparts.com oem# 9195731 theirs 22099 for £31.74 made by Febi Bilstein who I understand are an o e m for GM, not yet fitted.  I have found this company most helpfull with excelent delivery. Their website should enable you to search for parts but i have yet to master it.
