Omega idler arm - where to get?
« on: 24 October 2011, 17:06:29 »

Some years ago I made the mistake of buying the chocolate bushed version of the Omega idler arm. The one on the nearside. As discussed in this thread.
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=78614.msg1046727#msg1046727
Anyway it slowly deteriorated and is now an MOT fail.

Anyone know which ones one currently on EBay are good and which are crap?
Or where else to get in a hurry at reasonable cost.

Thanks,

You could try here: http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/ourshop/prod_1220825-Steering-idler-arm-Original-equipment-Lemforder-14927-01-9195731.html

Also I believe andyc can get genuine GM ones at not a great deal more than that.

I used these guys last year

http://www.vaux-world.com/ Cost me less than £30 delivered if I recall. And a local garage fitted it in minutes for a tenner.

But like the above post, I'd give AndyC a tug too.

On Major back order with GM last week, somewhere in the region of 140 on order so getting one on the quike isn't going to happen just yet

Cheers

Interesting as the Lemforder ones are also very hard to source at the moment.

One could infer that the genuine ones are Lemforder then

Was thinking the same.I tried to source a Lemforder idler recently and had the same - "on back order, not quite sure when they will be available".

Well All German Parts accepted my order for one. For next day delivery. £55.60 inc the delivery charge. So let's see what happens.

Seemed to be plenty of parts out there, but are they the Chinese chocolate bush version or genuine? So a bit pricey maybe. But at least I can have some confidence it will work.

Got an advisory on the rear shocks. So might replace those as well. What is best at a good price? Model year '97 Omega 2.5 V6 CDX.

Update. All German Parts have not got the idler arm. ETA 4th Nov. Nor has nearest Vauxhall main dealer.
There are some on EBay. But are the good ones or the chocolate version?

PS. Is there a post edit button somewhere? Can't see one. Am I losing the plot?
Thanks,

Thanks for that. I sent a PM but have had no response. And I don't have enough posts to reply in the original thread.
Nobody seems to have the Lemforder idler arm at the moment. Where arms are available they don't know who the real maker is. So likely Chinese chocolate. Also tried Vauxhall dealer - on backorder. No reliable ETA at the moment.
I need one so as I can pass MOT. If I can get the car back to them within the 10 days, then just that one item needs to be checked.

Hi
I have similar problem on my 2.5 '99 Tourer.
I have just purchased the steering idler arm from vauxhallworldparts.com oem# 9195731 theirs 22099 for £31.74 made by Febi Bilstein who I understand are an o e m for GM, not yet fitted.  I have found this company most helpfull with excelent delivery. Their website should enable you to search for parts but i have yet to master it.
