Omega General Help / Re: v6 wiring engine management
« on: 29 February 2012, 21:55:36 »
its a gonna take a bit of thinking but im sure the engine/engine management can be sorted the auto box is the thing could an early box be fitted gsi carlton etc or something else  ::)

Carlton, Senator, etc. all used pretty much the same automatic gearbox with electronic control. You might be able to go earlier to get a more basic all-hydraulic box. Depends if you have enough room for the electronics and if it'll behave with a much lighter vehicle. Whilst there's some adjustment with a basic autobox, you don't get that with an electronic one, of course. I reckon it'll be OK, but you'll have to suck it and see to an extent.

If you really want to go to town, ro you really don't get on with the stock ECU, some of the Megasquirt guys were building a mappable automatic gearbox controller. No idea what state it's currently in, though.

cheers if i go down the 3.2 route could use the 3.0litre heads and management or just use the 3.0l them couple of horses you will probably have spare anyway as it rips your arms off to what ever speed the seat of your pants lets you go before getting brown stains would want to use a twist type throttle with motorbike front end obviously no clutch just park drive reverse and neutral no need for 123   just hang on and go ;)

Omega General Help / v6 wiring engine management
« on: 14 February 2012, 17:31:33 »
hi guys if you have read my hello in the newbie section im trying to work out what engine to use in my trike build. Needs to be auto so just rev and go. Ive had plenty of vauxhalls in the past and would like to use a omega v6 engine and autobox if all goes well. So we have got 4 v6's to choose from, 2.5,2.6,3.0,3.2 ok so the 2.6,3.2 are the later engines with different engine management plenty more sensors different heads etc. Ideally i would like to use the 3.2 but the 3.0 would be my second choice or even a 2.5 with g cams in. I would like to use just the engine/gearbox injection system nothing from the steering or braking system, right time for questions ?????

1. Do all v6 auto gearbox have its own management ?
2. Does the management have inputs from anything else power steering/abs/airbags/tc etc would there be a way to omit them from   the program?
3. Which engine/autobox would be the easiest to install with management?
4. Would it be easier with stand alone management mega squirt or alike?
5. Which autobox is best ratio for acceleration (top end not an issue as 100 is quick enough on a trike with no helmet  8) ) ?
6. Does the v6 mate up to older autoboxs carlton/senator eliminating some box management ?
7. Has anyone put a v6 on bike carbs can it be done?

you guys are the guys in the know, any advice or opinions are very much welcomed thanks in advance, alot of information to collect before i start collecting parts, you can see where im coming from there is alot of stuff i would not need but maybe needed for ecu, :D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;) ;)

hi guys a bit of an unorthadox entrance  some time in the near future im going to be embarking on a trike build im looking in to suitable engines  ;) ive had plenty of vauxhalls in the past novas/corsas/astras/cavaliers/vectras but never an omega i had allsorts of models 16v's v6's turbos etc my dad had carltons and omegas in the past and im thinking that omega 3.2 engine looks well out of the car body and will make an excellent powerful reliable motor for my trike build and would sound great on some straight through slash cut pipes so be prepared for plenty of questions to come some pics of my old cav convertible calibre and old vecs to juice the appetite and my trike at the moment  :y
