Didn't get a reply from cutting out topic but as explained there;

unplugged MAF started car and took it for a drive, no cutting out and it goes like a rocket also the mpg is normal.

plugged it back in and poor acceleration with the usual cutting out.

So I guess in looks like another new MAF in less than 8 months.

I was curious as people said the car would perform worse with the MAF unplugged but it does not it's better, does that mean a new working one will be even better?

did you use a genuine gm maf or aftermarket have you got a cone filter on or standard airbox

Yep, non-genuine MAFs are a false economy and often fail early. Oiled filters will hasten their demise unless oiled very sparingly (whereby they aren't that effective).

Might be worth a look at the live data to confirm but if it runs better without the MAF it sounds like the MAF is toast.

Thank Kevin, bought the last one through vauxhall world parts it solved the problem of the EML last time but now it looks like another failure so have put a wanted in the parts section.
I knew it was a risk on the copy parts but at that point I was not sure if that was the problem last time.
I am surprised at how good a runner she is without it connected.
Why does it really need one if this is the case?

Without a valid signal from the MAF the ECU will estimate air flow based on throttle position and engine RPM. It's not as accurate as the MAF but if the MAF output is really bad it can drive better. It would be better still with a decent MAF.
