Flashing EML - emissions, thus misfire detected, or trims well off.

Get the codes :y

I assume this is petrol, not LPG?

Yep 2.6 V6 petrol engine. I want LPG but at the moment until I have saved the money its good old petrol power.I hopefully will have a fault code tomorrow so that might answer a few questions fingers crossed. Excuse me if I sound stupid but I am a novice at these things so what does trims well off mean  ???

Is she an Auto.

Had the "spinning" on a Granada once....twas very low gear box fluid....came and went until I topped it up...In those days via a PROPER DESIGNED FILLER TUBE COMPLETE WITH DIPSTICK.

Yep she is an auto will check the gear box fluid level just to be safe  :y. The Granada I remember them well. We have had three of them and they were always a pleasure to own  ::)

I have no code reader but suppose I may be able to try the pedal trick that I read about on here. I dont fancy going back to the vauxhall dealers for another diagnostic that would be another £50. Will give it a go and see where it leads.

Omega General Help / Confused
« on: 08 May 2012, 05:33:49 »
I am a little confused the other week while driving in to work I stopped at some traffic lights as you do and as the light turned green I went to pull away and all I can say is it was like I was wheel spinning but no TC light came on I seemed to have little or no power from the engine and it seemed to take an age to pull away . After driving up the road a little way the engine management light started flashing and then illuminated on the dash. I had to stop at another set of traffic lights the engine sounded very rough and the revs were all over the place at one point the revs dropped so low I thought the engine was going to cut out but it kept going, I pulled in and remembered that we had been advised to switch off the ignition and restart the car to reset the computer when the engine management light came on in our Zafira so maybe the case here would be the same. But to no avail after restart I got a few yards up the road and hey presto the engine management light flashed and then came on again and the engine sounded rough again.

I thought it best to go for a drive on my lunch break and all seemed fine the engine sounded fine and no management light came on all acted like it should and it was the same when I drove home from work no management light no engine problems at all which left me a little confused and that was around 2 weeks ago.

Then the other day though while on my home from work I let the fuel get a little too low for my liking and only had fumes left in the tank and filled up with a fair amount when it all began again the engine management light came on and the engine lost power and sounded rough but this time I stopped switched off the engine and when I restarted all seemed to be fine once more.

Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas what could be causing it. The mechanic in the family has said it might be the plug leads but without seeing the car he would not be able to say for sure I would take it to show him but that would involve a 700 mile round trip to North Wales.

This is the third Omega we have owned as a family but none of the ones before it seemed to have this problem so any help on getting it sorted if anything needs sorting would be appreciated.

Will give #29 a go but the report from vauxhall says fuses seem okay and that it would require further diagnostic tests but all is worth checking

Well thanks for the input have to return the shock tomorrow you say that a stock shock and springs can be used any advice on which ones to use

7
Bog standard KYB shocker. You need self levelling shocks & springs. Shocks are obtainable only from VX, and suspension parts should always be changed in pairs

Can the bog standard ones be used still be used though or will I need to put the self levelling on

Omega General Help / Have I bought the correct shock absorber ?
« on: 11 April 2012, 22:53:04 »
Well I am a little confused I purchased a new shock absorber after having the car put through a diagnostic at Vauxhalls and having a health check. It was one of the major problems along with a crack in one of the rear springs have both ready to be changed on Friday but after looking at the shock absorber on the car it does not seem the correct one that has been supplied. The one on the car has a wire coming from it but the new one a Kayaba 343216 has no connection or wire from it. Is it the correct replacement part for my 2.6 V6 Elite any input would be greatfully appreciated.

No lights at all is there a relay read on here that mine has no relay but worth a check. Is it one of the relays in the fusebox or elsewhere looked online for its possible location and came up empty.

Sorry if this has been asked before but here goes.

My front heated seats wont work at all. Checked fuse no 14 and all is fine but when I turn the switches on there is no lights at all. I have ordered some new switches to see if that fixes the problem but other than that is there any relays or any other areas that I should investigate.

Thanks for that have decided to get a new ccr 2006 and the nokia handsfree kit any advice on fitting would be brilliant as I am a novice at these things or is it worth getting a professional to fit it so I have no chance of messing it up.

Any advice on a handsfree set that I can put with a ccr 2006 and use to connect my iphone too. I used to have a Seat Ibiza with an inbuilt bluetooth via a unit added to the radio. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated

Newbie Welcome Area / Hello to all
« on: 06 April 2012, 12:57:27 »
Just a quick hello to you all. Only owned my '52' Omega 2.6 Elite for a week now and except for a few niggles like the front heated seats dont work and the 4 disk cd changer shows an error and wont eject but other than that it drives like a dream. The only major issues at the moment is a major shake under heavy breaking and now an electronics warning light has come on but all will be checked out next week at Vauxhall.
