hello again chaps

i cut the red and white wire on the car this afternoon as mentioned above. it had the desired effect and put the date back on the mid display when the stereo was on. a slightly less desired effect was the loss of radio reception. i cut the wire directly behind the stereo.
can you tell me where the wire splits and where its safe to cut the wire to the mid

many thanks

hi all

I have looked at past posts about getting the mid to display the date etc when an aftermarket head unit is on, one said cut the red and white wires on the mid end, does this mean i have to remove the mid and if so how do i do that ?

new stereo is an alpine cde9880r

old one now off and the bearings are a bit tight, all wires were connected so i guess its got to be the alternator, new one to be collected tomorrow will let you know....

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery light on
« on: 17 May 2008, 18:17:05 »
Afternoon all

I had a problem when returning from work this morning the battery light came on in the car, it only went off if the car was moving and revs over about 4.5k under load.
The battery is as old as the car which is a 2002
Do you think its the alternator or the battery? Im guessing that as its more expensive it will be the alternator!

I am a pretty laid back guy and maybe that is the source of the problem - engine arrived on Monday and was told ready for tuesday. I was away on tuesday so said no problems pick it up wednesday - give VX more time and no pressure (so I thought). Set off to pick up tonight - told sorry not ready - wait for it - a problem with some bolts!!! Awaiting parts from VX.

What is it with these bolts? Something very strange!

Get home and there is a VX letter recalling the Signum for a handbrake modification!!

Can't pick the Omega up tomorrow so hope for friday.

Warranty issue now resolved anyway -12 months warranty on engine agreed.

i bet the recall letter for the signum is for them to stick a note on the sunvisor telling you to leave it in gear when parked. we lost a few traffic cars when the handbrake failed and about a year ago they recalled the vectra to give us a sticker, still havent fixed the problem!

The only cars I seem to be able to find locally within my budget are autos :(

You have 2 feet, therefore you only need 2 pedals in your car!
3 pedals bad..... 2 pedals good  ::)  :y  :y  :y

2 pedals if your travelling from A to B (in a taxi)
3 pedals if you want to drive quickly from A to B.  :y :y

just done this on mine, its amazing the diference in the quality of service you can get at VX. went into AA Clark Bracknell asked the parts guy for the right number of bulbs for an omega dash no model mentioned, 2 minutes later he was back with 4 bulbs total cost about £3.
And its a dead simple job thanks to the links on here, thanks chaps :y
