Omega Electrical and Audio Help / immobiliser help!!!
« on: 22 November 2007, 13:39:48 »
Hello from Rome, Italy.
I have 1994 2.0 16V Omega bought second hand several months ago.  The previous owner told me he had changed the ECU and disabled the immobiliser.
The car had no problems except the centralized door locking didn't work (I didn't care). The only key I have for the car is non electronic(without chips batteries...plain old key) and it always worked just fine.
Today I started the car as usual and after 500m the engine shut off and the light on the immobiliser button on the dashboard (the one with the little running man) turned on. Also the certralized door locking mechanism works now!!! The car won't start though -- the dashboard lights come on, but for the rest it's dead city.
I guess it could be the immobiliser started working again.  Any help on how to disable it again or get rid of it (I doubt I'll need it) ?
Help!!!
Please!!!

Omega General Help / code 37 and 38 on 2.0 16v Omega
« on: 18 August 2007, 00:33:27 »
Hello,
I recently bought here in Rome a 1994 Opel Omega 2.0 16v, the one with the X20XEV Ecotec engine. It also was fitted with an LPG gas fuel system, so it runs both on petrol as well as LPG gas.
The orange engine management light started lighting up every now end then some time ago and now it's always on.  I performed the paper clip test described on this forum and two fault codes showed up,

code 37 Check light (fault code lamp) Voltage low
code 38 Oxygen sensor circuit Voltage high

what do they actually mean? and how should I interpretate them? How can I solve the problem?

It also gives me idleing problems and between 2500 and 3500 rpms it's not smooth at all. It also has start up problems whith a cold engine -- it takes about 5 to 15 tries before it actually decides to start up. I cleaned up the Idle control valve and it did help somewhat but didn't really solve the problem.

I hope someone can help me with these questions.
Thank you!
Filippo from Rome

Hello everyone,
I live in Rome, Italy and recently bought a 1994 Opel Omega 2.0 16v with a few things that need attention and/or fixing. Questions I will now post in the general help section.  It all looks like a great help and shareing place!
