Omega General Help / oil in plug well
« on: 03 May 2010, 13:02:24 »
Hi,
While investigating the source of a coolant leak from the back of the engine area, i pulled the front HT lead off to find it covered in oil(3.0 mini facelift). Does this indicate a cam cover gasket failure? or something else?

thanks

« on: 05 August 2008, 17:20:53 »
Hi,
My 3.0 1998 elite saloon failed its MOT today with leaking offside rear shock :(. Does anyone know if it would have the air shocks or standard shocks fitted. Or can someone advise me how I can tell what is fitted?  :-?P/N would be a great help as well......and as if i'm not asking for much where might i get hold of a pair (assuming its best to change both rear at same time) at a very attractive price of course!! :-X

thanks mark, just bought a pair  :D.
At that price its worth changing them even if its just to eliminate them as the problem.

Omega General Help / Droplink noise?
« on: 01 May 2008, 14:22:53 »
I've started to notice a loose knocking sound from wheel arch area. I'm suspecting worn droplinks. Is there anyway of checking them before I go ahead and get some new links fitted? :-?
BTW: Doesnt seem to have any effect on steering or handling but then I hardly thrash about in it anyway. :P
cheers

Omega General Help / Need to repair check strap
« on: 17 January 2008, 22:36:23 »
Finally got round to having a look at the check strap in the drivers door today. Been meaning to do it since I got the car as the strap dont exactly do much in the way of checking.

Here's what I found  :(:

Must admit I'ts pretty much what I was expecting to see. ::)
Going to Vx to get the reinforcement plates and torx bolts, as well as some new bushes at the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to sort it out by following Sounds2k's procedure.  :)

Any other tips/advice or jobs I should consider doing while I've got the door cards off (going to do both front doors)  :-/

Omega General Help / Door locking problem
« on: 12 January 2008, 17:18:10 »
Hi,
The rear offside passenger door lock has started to play up. It will only lock when either the remote lock button is pressed twice or the key in the drivers door lock is turned to left twice. All the others will lock with just the one press or turn.  :(

Could it be that the central locking system needs to be synchronised or summink? :-?

Thx

Hi Andy :)
I think it should be stamped on the left hand side of engine on the crankcase. ;)

I think you will find its not a problem mine does this when I park up the cooling fan on mine runs on for a short time after the engine stops and this is blown out under the car more noticable on passenger side I noticed

Thats reassuring. :) I guess the same is happening with mine then...I have noticed the cooling fan running on a little while.

Blocked cat(s)?
Well the car had a full twelve month MOT issued just the previous day to me buying it. Wouldn't it have failed on emissions etc. with a blocked cat  :question

I guess I'll see how things go.
thanks again

Omega General Help / excessive heat from under car?
« on: 01 September 2007, 12:43:47 »
I've recently aquired a 3.0 v6 elite, which I'm glad to say I cannot fault !! 8-)
I've just got a little concern over the fact that even after a short 20 minute trip there seems to be a lot of heat coming from the under-side of the car. :-?
Is this normal or is there something more sinister going on here??  :-/
thanks in advance.
