Collected Zeke after his MOT pass last week. As a tight northerner I wasn't going to pay a months tax for a weeks use.

Bloody hell I've missed him. Had a nice brisk run back. Even treated him to some lovely fresh super unleaded. You can tell it was payday yesterday.

Tigerseal, just msk round each side where you don't want it to ooze, and remove the masking tape while it's still wet. Will be nice and neat then.

Great stuff!

Assuming it hasn't run for a while, remind yourself that the hydraulic tappets will take a little while to quiet down, and that trickle of oil might give a little smoke, so don't immediately reach for the swear jar on first startup.

Not speaking from experience, no, not at all :D

First Omega I’ve seen in ages. Dark grey Omega. Kt03?
Young lad driving in the brief glimpse I got as it pulled in on the Honister Pass just down from the mine.

Not anybody from here then. :)

Most are older than Moses.....with the exception of me. :)

Oi! I'm so youthful they use me in skincare adverts.
As the 'before' model?

:D only when they're using Ronnie Wood as the after

I get this every now and then. A bit scary at first when you don’t know what it is and you just get a ’clunk’, when turning the key, but as just said, moving the selector back and forth sorted it.

If my current problems get resolved I might do the selector clean as described on the forum.

Was going to be my suggestion, I've never owned an auto Omega but I've seen the guide referenced before.

Royal Mail again. It's pretty much a constant. This time they're telling me they've delivered a package full of loom tape, due Thursday, supposedly arrived Friday... Is nowhere to be seen.

Bunch of penises.

Also the chap who I ordered 2 (two) VW wheel bearing kits from, and using DHL, sent me... One. So that knackered both my planned jobs this weekend.

Sorted out why the o/s flasher not working on the Austin, the wire from the flasher unit to switch is black and white but so is the wire to the n/s lights. Got the 2 mixed up when I shortened the loom to the switch, only took 2 hrs to work that out!!

Electrics, the devils work. Bet you were chuffed afterwards.

Cars for Sale & wanted / Re: 2.6 Saloon
« on: 25 April 2025, 20:51:39 »
Beware, facelift needs 290N struts, pre facelift is 240N. I think the threads are different too, facelift coarser.

JP GROUP 1281202500 Bonnet strut Extension Force: 240N - will struggle to lift the heavier facelift bonnet

Do not understand this.

I bought the struts, checked by Autodoc's system to match with my 2003 3.2 saloon, and they are doing the job perfectly.

Ron's Omega is a facelift like mine and surely as a 2.6 has the same struts. ::) ::) ::)

Not an Omega but finding the correct strut for an R170 SLK is tricky, all seem to have the wrong thread where it bolts to the bonnet and there's no space for an adapter, I don't think.

Instead theres a broom handle living in the car, much simpler. For quick jobs like an oil dip I just rest it on my bonce, won't do any harm...

Omega General Help / Re: ABS pump union size?
« on: 25 April 2025, 20:48:43 »
Answered my own question after some delicate removal - 3 fittings are M12x1 . If anyone needs this info I'll be very surprised... But also by the time I'm doing my next project I'll no doubt have forgotten.

Hoovered all the dead pigeons and leaves out of the purple project, got it cleaned back and gave it a good coat of chassis paint. I'll have a look tomorrow to get all the bits I have missed. It's bloody satisfying getting it that much closer to the road. Tax disc ran out in 2011 so it's been a while!

Omega General Help / ABS pump union size?
« on: 20 April 2025, 16:26:43 »
Putting some love into the purple project. Brake pipes - the unions into the ABS pump are two different sizes. Last time I reused the old ones as they were immaculate but these ones are... Moribund.

Could someone help me out with what size the unions are on the pump, the master cylinder, and the calipers?

I'm 99pc certain most of them are standard size and only two are the larger size but never hurts to ask.

TIA :y
