Omega General Help / Re: 2.5v6 conversion into 3.2v6....

Bhp = (torque x revs)/5252.....if you want more bhp, juts move the existing torque further up the rev range (exactly what motor bike and F1 engines do).

The cams do work and there are dyno plots around to prove it, its more popular on Vectras and Cav/Calibras though.

The cams offer extra lift and longer duration......I suspect that the 2.5 might have been slightly throttled to give better low end torque and to make sure there was a decent differential between teh 2.5 and 3.0.

And as already said, this is exactly what was done to the 190bhp Vectras......

Would this be achieved best by chipping the car ??  i have some sports cats and an induction kit on order and am looking to have it chipped anyway to allow it to run to its best capabilitys so could incorporate it all in one go ??

Anyone know of a really good place in the south west that do chips, re-mapping etc...

I personally would just put some 3.0 cams in the 2.5....

how much extra would this give me ?? and is it an easy job to do ??

so is this going to be so much easier just to use a 3.0 lump then ??  whats the power difference between the 2.5 and 3.0 anybody know ??

And does anybody know about say supercharger either the 2.5 or 3.0 engines ??  do the engines themselves need alot of work to be able to handle the extra power or do they survive ????

I'm thinking you'd need a manual flywheel, don't know if the 2.5 one would fit. Electronics would need some work, with the 2.5 having cable, 3.2 being fly-by-wire. But I'm in no way an expert, I've only enough knowledge to be mildly hazardous when unsupervised.

What do you mean by fly-by-wire ???

2.5v6 conversion into 3.2v6....

Does anybody know if a 3.2v6 auto 52 plater engine will go straight into my 2.5v6 manual 1998 hole ??  or does this need some adaption ??  all the help would be appreciated as i have the 3.2 engine but nobody seems to know if it will go straight onto my manual gearbox and i dont fancy pulling it all out to have to put the 2.5v6 back in !!

Cheers guys

What kind of wheels are these... they look good!

They are Fox Racing RS5's 18x8.5  235/40/18R but there the newer style ones with the replaceable outer chrome rim (handy for if they get kurbed)   8-)

Those wheels are funducking lovely. How much does your mate charge for the tinting.

Cost me £240 for the gradient tint as it was a special order and at the time of doing it he told me he would never tint an omega again as he had to do the rear window about 6 times to get it looking right !! he's a perfectionist hence Perfect Tinting !!  But i know for a fact that he has done some omegas since just no other car with the same tint as mine  8-)

whats the graphic on the bonnet? is it a permanent display or just for the pics?

the wheels are growing on me, wasnt a fan but one of my brother's mates has them on a green IS200 and they look stunning

The chrome graphic on the bonnet is advertising my company as this is technically my company car even though its actually mine  8-)
