Hi folks, got a problem with drivers electric seat on my 1999 Elite saloon.

Seat won’t slide fully forward. Can move it all the way back, but moving forward it just stops after about 10cms from being all the way back. Thought something had got stuck in it, maybe a coin or something, but can’t see anything to stop it from moving fully forward.

Motor sounds fine, was a bit crunchy sounding, but always worked fine. Obviously hasn’t burnt out, and everything else works fine.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix (economically!)?

Cheers all.

Folks,

Want to say many thx for all your help over the past few years. Only had to post a few times, but the forum has been an invaluable resource for keeping my beloved miggy on the road.

All the best and thanks again.

Adam

Sorry Adam, post modified to conform to the forum rules, I know you have been a member for 3 years or more, but I'm afraid we can't make an exception.

Ahh found this - http://www.ilexa.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,3390.20.html

Appears this can be an issue for some - if not c/case sensor, then immobiliser. Apparently this can be bypassed altogether with a quick bit of re-wiring. Will have a go with this next time it happens.

Thx

Gents, many thx.

Tried it for about 3 hours, maybe 10 tries. Used both keys. Then left it for an hour and it fired up fine with spare. Now works absolutely fine. This is just like the last time it happened - nothing for a few hours, and then fine. Would this suggest it is electrical, rather than fuel line? As mentioned, nothing on paper clip test. Now i can move it, will get under it and have a look at crankcase sensor for poor connection.

Got 2 other hoses with splits, one minor (pic attached - labelled 2), and a big split in the one with the yellow tape. Blows out air (making whining noise) for about 20 secs when started, then stops. Could these be affecting it?

Once i've looked at c/case sesnor (fuel lines seem fine - it's got a new filter on it - so unlikely), are there any other things i can do to identify the cause?

Many thanks everyone

Hi folks,

Prefacelift 2.5 v6 won't start!

Paper clip test showed nothing - if it was crankcase sensor something would show? Turns over fine, just won't fire. Plugs ares almost brand new, everything else looks fine.

Have had this problem a couple of times over the past year, but after a day or so would come back to the car and it starts fine.

Was thinking perhaps an immobiliser problem?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Hello folks,

Went out to the car this morning, and for the first time in 2 years she wouldn't start.

Has been running absolutely fine, always started without any probs – until this morning.

New plugs fitted a few months back. Coolant and oil are fine (full of petrol!), car has never missed a beat. Turns over but just won’t fire.

Any suggestions on how to isolate what’s causing this would be greatly appreciated (as always!)

Many thx.

Omega General Help / Rear wheels look like they are leaning out
« on: 12 April 2010, 12:51:14 »
Hello folks,
Apologies – probably bit of dumb question – recently had rear shocks and springs replaced on Omega Elite saloon. New shocks are standard non self levellers. All seems fine, but both rear wheels look like they are leaning in a bit, and now it looks like both tyres are wearing out more on the inside. Is there something that can be adjusted to correct this? Somebody mentioned that maybe shocks/springs are the wrong size, but I’ve checked the Monroe catalogue and they are the correct type - 25478. Could this be something else, or maybe not properly fitted?

Any suggestions, as always, greatly appreciated.

Omega General Help / Rear suspension knocking on Elite saloon
« on: 05 January 2010, 20:56:05 »
Hello folks.

About a month ago had some new rear shocks put on my 99 Elite saloon. These were the standard ones as opposed to the self levellers, so had the hoses tied off.

Anyway they seemed fine for about 2 weeks, and since then I notice the odd clunk/thud noise coming from the back left of the car. At first I thought it was something in the boot, but now it happens quite regularly. This only happens at low speeds and usually quite early on in the journey. Ride and handling seem OKish, although something doesn’t feel quite right about the back of the car.

Wondering if the springs have been affected by the new shocks, or maybe something else? Been having a bit of a read through some posts but not sure.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Omega General Help / Re: Self Levelling rear shocks
« on: 21 December 2009, 17:09:29 »
Just had rear shocks changed on my Elite. Quote for new self levellers was £160 a side(!), got a quote for some second hand ones for £100, but decided to go with some standard gas ones, about £30 each.

Fitted them about 2 weeks ago and they have been fine. Car seems a bit stiffer, handles fine, ride might be slighlty firmer but no probs so far (fingers crossed!)

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 V6 slow coolant loss and oil mayo
« on: 05 August 2009, 13:02:32 »
No water in plugs, can't see leak coming from anywhere.

Have wiped out mayo, and will flush coolant, throw in some barrs leaks and see if it does the job. We'll see if the mayo comes back.

Local garage is convinced this is head gasket and that I'm looking at £700 - nervous times!

Thx all

Omega General Help / 2.5 V6 slow coolant loss and oil mayo
« on: 04 August 2009, 17:29:30 »
Just replaced camcovers - serious leak, oil all over the place, in the plugs, so changed them too. Mayo like scum now appearing in oil filler tube and slow loss of coolant.

Does this point to corroded oil cooler, or could it be something else? No oil appearing in the coolant tank.

Also having intermittant starting problems, assumed this was down to the plugs being oiled up from the leak, but still an issue. Can only think this could be crankcase sensor, but had a look and it seems OK. Once the car is started it drives perfectly.

Any ideas/advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: Breaking 1998 2.5 Elite

Have you got silver trim on rear bumper (kerb side)?

Also need the stip/bracket things that the top of the rear bumper bolt on to. These are the bits where the bolt at the back of the wheel arch gos through to keep the side of the bumper in line with the car.

Cheers

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Rear bumper bits needed
« on: 12 December 2009, 18:16:12 »
Hi folks, apologies, this should be in the parts ection, but couldn't add new topic becasue i have <250 posts. Was wondering if anyone help point me in the right direction for some rear bumper parts for a 1999 Elite saloon?

Need mounting strips (both sides) that fit onto the back body and allow the ends of the bumper to bolt in under the rear arch. Bolts and holes have sheered off on mine, as per ilovemyelite’s post, so these need to be intact.

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1214865779http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1214865779

Also need silver trim strip for kerb side of rear bumper.

Can anyone help?

Cheers
