Omega General Help / Re: HELP PLEASE - BALL JOINTS
« on: 19 June 2010, 18:03:27 »
Just to clarify the wishbones were fitted by vx but they were not vx parts, they were aftermarkets.  The genuine vx wishbones were quoted at £220 where as the ones i got were £70.

Omega General Help / HELP PLEASE - BALL JOINTS
« on: 19 June 2010, 17:04:47 »
Hi,

I have had a wobble through the steering and was told by VX that i needed new wishbones at the front.  Had this done and still had a wobble, took it to get tracked ect and was told that there was play in the offside lower ball joint.  Is this a part that should've been replaced when i had the other work done? Is the ball joint integral to the wishbone or is it a part that it seperate?  Either way i was told that this is an MOT failure and that VX should not have let it go out in this condition.
Any help and advice would be very helpful.

Omega General Help / Re: slight judder.....

had similar probs with my mv6 for ages, eventually got it sorted last week.  It was the front camber settings and the knock on effect was that this messed up the front tyres.  Vx sorted out the camber and put on a new set of wheels and it now drives like a dream.  The other thing that it might be is worn bushes in the wishbones, so i've been told.

Omega General Help / Re: Service Due
« on: 30 January 2009, 17:52:57 »
Am sure i can do the basics myself but i need someone who knows what they are doing, and cares, to have a look at the front suspension, track rod ends, wheel bearings, all bushes and linkages as i get a slight wobble at various speeds and it's annoying the Sh*t out of me.  I am totally unable to cure and i don't want to spend money on new wishbones if the camber needs setting ect ect.  Any idea's?

Hi,

I live in Leicester and the service is due on my omega.  I don't want to take it to a dealer as they do not provide a very good service, does anyone know somewhere close by that they could reccomend as i need a few extra things doing as well.

Thanks,

Dino

Omega General Help / Re: Strange noise

Feel like a bit of a plonker, you were right, bit of wood next to the fan in front of the rad was causing the noise.  Many thanks. :y

Omega General Help / Strange noise
« on: 01 July 2008, 07:29:55 »
Hi, i was hoping someone might e able to help me.

I was driving home today and as i pulled up i noticed a funny vibration through the floor.  I got out of the car, left it running, and lifted the bonnet and it sounded like liquid being sucked through a straw.  I switched the air con off and went for a quick drive and i did not notice it again.  However, and this is the strange part, i got back home and again got out of the car with out turning it off and i could now hear a tapping noise, i thought it must be something to do with the engine and so turned it off, but the noise continued untill the fan stopped.

Any ideas?

Its a 99 mv6 and its only done 57K none of it hard.

It was fully serviced at Vx in Feb.

Omega General Help / Slight grinding when turning corner
« on: 23 January 2008, 15:13:09 »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows what could cause a slight grinding noise when i turn a corner.  It is intermitant.  I have had new pads and discs at the front, the rear pads are fine but the rear discs have a small amount of surface corrosion on them around the edge.  I've had the tracking and balancing done aswell.

Many Thanks

Omega General Help / Re: Price of ew discs and pads
« on: 14 January 2008, 12:22:16 »
Hi,

I just thought that i would post this as i have had the work completed now by kwik fit at a price of £198.  This includes life time replacement pads, new sensors and 12months warrenty on discs.  I got a quote from vx and it was £236 with out sensors.  Although i do not really like kwik fit they did do a great job, have stopped the slight wobble at speed and were damn good guys.  I appreciate that the job was doable myself but as i only just bought it and just needed it doing as i do not have the time so it was a good compromise.  Thought i'd let you know the outcome in case anyone else is in a similar position.

Thanks for the advice,

Dino

Omega General Help / Price of ew discs and pads
« on: 10 January 2008, 18:49:30 »
Hi,

I have just bought a t reg mv6 and wanted to get new brake pads and discs at the front (the rear are fine).  I went to kwik fit and was told it would be around £64 for pads and £133 for discs.  Does this sound reasonable?

Many thanks,

Dino
