Omega General Help / Re: found a 2.5td manual
« on: 04 February 2008, 22:57:41 »
If it has been well looked after the engine should last upwards of 200 to 250,000 miles.
My 2.5TD has about the same mileage and runs smoothly and pulls like a train, only a little noisier when cold but always runs smooth.
Make sure the front tyres wear evenly.

Take it for a test drive if the seller will allow it. If you don't like the way it drives or have any doubts, don't buy it. there will always be a better one out there somewhere.
Some years ago I made an impulse decision to buy a car just because it looked fab (oh the impatience of youth) and it turned out to be a right money pit and it cost me dearly. :(
Stick with Vauxhall, because ford ar s**t. see above comment.  :y

Just dropping in to say hello.
I joined the ranks of omega owner's a few months ago and found this site through google today, so I thought i would have a go.
I worked at a vauxhall main dealer for a couple of years and I've worked on and owned a few vauxhalls over the last few years and this one seems to be pretty damn good, so i'll hang on to the old battle tank for a while.

I'm also experimenting with veg oil as an alternative fuel (fed up with lining the taxman's pockets) currently using approximately 20% oil (svo) seems to be starting & running ok. smells nice too. I also keep a couple of spare fuel filters handy just in case.

only done a couple of tankfuls with this mix. so far so good.
anybody else having a go ????
if your interested I'm using "Pura" veg oil @56p a litre from well known supermarkets......

It would be interesting to hear of anybody else's experiences using oil.
good or bad.     :y

General Discussion Area / Re: What is Y 57XE Motor ?
« on: 04 February 2008, 22:03:33 »
The only car I have seen the 5.7 V8 is the Australian equivalent of the Omega, the Holden Commodore.
Probably a useless piece of info but it was just something I came across while working at main dealer a few years ago.
I've not seen another one since, but it did go bloody fast :) :y

General Discussion Area / misbehaving remote central locking
« on: 21 January 2008, 19:28:52 »
I wonder if any of you guys could help me.........

when I lock my omega with the remote, I have to wait until the interior light has gone out, otherwise it unlocks its self when the interior light switches off.
Not usually a problem but with all the rain recently i've been getting wet waiting to lock it.

Any Idea's what might be causing this ??  :)
