found a 2.5td manual
« on: 04 February 2008, 22:16:57 »

I have found a 2.5td manual in colchester up for £1k which i think is a bit pricey imho.

its a CD with 147k on the clock but no service history! i doubt very much that it hasnt been serviced but you know what im saying.

What are the things i need to look at if i check the car out apart from the usual? any omega traits? ive seen a few with dodgy diesel pumps on ebay is that a frail part?( certainly pricey!)

i asume due to its size they chew up brakes and bushes?

was gonna offer a cheeky £600 - think it would be worth it?

If it has been well looked after the engine should last upwards of 200 to 250,000 miles.
My 2.5TD has about the same mileage and runs smoothly and pulls like a train, only a little noisier when cold but always runs smooth.
Make sure the front tyres wear evenly.

Take it for a test drive if the seller will allow it. If you don't like the way it drives or have any doubts, don't buy it. there will always be a better one out there somewhere.
Some years ago I made an impulse decision to buy a car just because it looked fab (oh the impatience of youth) and it turned out to be a right money pit and it cost me dearly. :(
Stick with Vauxhall, because ford ar s**t. see above comment.  :y
