New main horn from a breaker, try one of the guys on here....

New power sounder from stealers... some will disagree with me .. but there is a small but known risk of these things catching fire, and I value my Omega and my life (note the order :) )  too much to take the risk for £60... or unplug the powersounder and leave it be.

Just my views...nowt else :)

ok thanks for that  :y
these powersounders seem trouble anyway but i,ll get a new 12v airhorn off ebay for the alarm i think.

right ive been trying to sort this problem out and this is what i found.

the main horn is disconected but appears to be dead as ive rigged 12v to it and nothing happens.

the powersounder is plugged in but does nothing.
ive had the top off but it looks nothing like any pic on here.
looks like a solid lump of rubber and all you can see seems to be 2xAA pencil batteries.
its a texton 775764335 or 90508618 PJ.

any ideas???  :-/

I posted this elsewhere  .. might help ..  :)

Anti theft alarm is the "normal" alarm you get if you, for example, leave a window open, lock the car, and wave your arm inside ...  :)

Power sounder alarm is the one with the self contained batteries that will go off if Mr Scrote disconnects the battery to stop the first one (anti Theft Alarm) going off.

One is just a horn .. the other is a horn with batteries ... :)

You main alarm appears to have failed ... I would take it off and try 12V straight at it .. if it still doesn't work .... then talk to one of the breakers on here.

ive read the powersounders are trouble but have you known the main horn to fail before?

If you just want to tap off a single set of RCA, then you can use this

http://www.dndservices.co.uk/pc1-610.html

but if you want to use a full set of RCA then this is better

1000W RMS. Off 12v? PMSL.

Kilowatt RMS is very easily achieved -

TB stop showing your age   :P
With std batteries/alternators etc? Presumably it would be on its own 12v supply, but that would need constant charging?

1kW rms, thats going to be around 1.5kW peak, so 125A cable.  Thats assuming very high efficiency.

i always ran the standard gear but needed the engine running constant at shows.
i used o-gauge cable, thats about 1" thick with a 300 amp fuse.
you could,nt really run anymore power than that without a split charging system although it worked.
the people who had money ran second alternators and loads of batteries.

years ago my showcar mk3 astra estate ran 2 of these monoblock competition amps and 4 15" subs  :o
thats 2000wrms at 1ohm stable, cracked 150db, also cracked the windscreen  ;D
ive still got an amp and 2 subs under the bed begging to be used  ;)

so to do this i must change the complete head unit then?  :question

or what wattage is the standard bose amp in my car as i could just upgrade the sub instead?  :question

different lowering spring kits available, see larkspeed.com and check for apex kits. self levelling rear suspension? different stock rear springs i think. if getting lowering springs you will probably want to look at uprating the dampers at the same time.

ok thanks.
now i know estate rear springs are different to salloons i see the choice is very limited.
cheapest ive found is APEX at £120 delivered from www.dcperformance.co.uk
i,ll have to check if mines self levelling when it stops raining.
i may only be swapping the rears so it sits level, instead of having its arse in the air.
