years ago my showcar mk3 astra estate ran 2 of these monoblock competition amps and 4 15" subs  :o
thats 2000wrms at 1ohm stable, cracked 150db, also cracked the windscreen  ;D
ive still got an amp and 2 subs under the bed begging to be used  ;)

so to do this i must change the complete head unit then?  :question

or what wattage is the standard bose amp in my car as i could just upgrade the sub instead?  :question

With std batteries/alternators etc? Presumably it would be on its own 12v supply, but that would need constant charging?

1kW rms, thats going to be around 1.5kW peak, so 125A cable.  Thats assuming very high efficiency.

i always ran the standard gear but needed the engine running constant at shows.
i used o-gauge cable, thats about 1" thick with a 300 amp fuse.
you could,nt really run anymore power than that without a split charging system although it worked.
the people who had money ran second alternators and loads of batteries.

If you just want to tap off a single set of RCA, then you can use this

http://www.dndservices.co.uk/pc1-610.html

but if you want to use a full set of RCA then this is better

No, if you are running BOSE then you will have to tap into the rear of the head unit, (or the inputs of the BOSE amp.)

The output of the BOSE amp is far too sensitive to cope with this additional loading
