Omega General Help / Re: Engine problem
« on: 02 April 2011, 21:47:17 »
Simply would have cost too much money to repair - more than the car was worth.Bodywork fantastic - mechanically buggered - ECU going, valve stem seals, head gasket, etc, etc. Just couldnt afford to repair it. I had it 3 years and in the end it owed me nothing so I scrapped it (after it had been vandalised as well - although it was off road someone objected to where it was parked and carved the word cu*t on the roof and scratched the paintwork).
Sorry if this is upsetting, but I thought about it long and hard before I did it. Petrol costs etc. I'm not a wealthy man and needed the money.
There we go I have got it off my chest now, and hope you all have better luck with your omegas than I had - I think I was naively sold a rough one.

Omega General Help / Engine problem
« on: 28 March 2009, 02:12:43 »
My Y Reg 2.6 Mig puffs out bluey/white smoke on starting, rattles for a couple of seconds and has engine management light on. have been told there is a misfire on idle and that depending on what the problem is it could cost up to a grand to repair.Loses a bit of oil, and water but I dont think they are mixing in the engine. Only done 77k. Is it time for the scrapyard already? Still goes well but up for mot shortly- been told there is air leak and lambda sensor is over compensating by throwing more fuel in. Are Cats going to b knackered as a result? Help Please

Omega General Help / 2.6cd auto
« on: 27 September 2010, 20:41:02 »
My Y reg auto miggy wont start - have fully checked that battery is fully charged. i know its a bit obvious but can it be anything else but the starter motor? A mechanic I know who has an X type jag has said it could be an inhibitor switch?!? - he said he had replaced a starter motor before on a jag only to find it was the inhibitor switch. Any clues guys??http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/yabbfiles250/Templates/Forum/default/embarassed.gif

Omega General Help / Possible deceased omega
« on: 10 July 2010, 23:07:54 »
Pedal test fault codes 10.1.7.10, and 10.1.7.3. Starter motor Knackered. Called an automotive guy with diagnostic (snap-on) kit. He could find no readings on his equipment. He got car started eventualy but was only on 3 cylinders but after a while it picked up to all 6. He seemed to hint that ECU could be failing, which as it is a "y" reg would not be worth repairing. Any suggestions please before I drive it to "webuyanycar.com" and accept the £490 valuation?? :-/

Omega General Help / Dodgy Startup

Hi Guys - long time since I got in touch with you. My 2.6 CD struggles when starting from cold unless you leave the engine running for a couple of minutes on idle. ECU light on as well but that has been on for a while. I will do pedal trick and write it down and see what that says but any other suggestions
?

Omega General Help / Courtesy Lights
« on: 02 May 2008, 22:02:38 »
Hi Guys-I recently bought a 2001 2.6L CD which is absolutely fantastic in every respect. My only niggle is that none of the courtesy lights work (saloon, doors, boot, reading lamps etc). I think all the fuses are in place because everything else appears to work. Its not a big problem as I say but when the dark nights come it would be nice to have the full omega experience and this is the only thing spoiling it at the moment.
