Omega General Help / Re: Sluggish Omega

What are you comparing it to, as it will never be a fast to change as a twin clutch setup like Vag's DSG

Also, the Omega autos are quite long geared, so if trying to accelerate, it has to use more of the rev range.

With that aside, are you seeing any slip when it changes gear, and does it change reasonably smoothly, or thump into gears.

It does change reasonably smoothly but a bit slower now a compared to before.

Too slow, as in it holds on to gear for too high revs before changing, or too slow as in once it starts to change it takes ages?

If the latter, what are you comparing it to?
I think both situations describes it.

Am replacing my wheels from the standard 17" and upgrade to 19". Is there any adjustment or replacement I need to do with the underchassis or suspension? Also will the series 40 tyre be perfect with it? TIA

Omega General Help / Rims Omega MV6
« on: 04 May 2014, 23:17:15 »
Hi guys.  I am trying to get a new set of rims for my Opel Omega MV6 3.0 here in Australia.  Isnt it that the Opel/Vauxhaul is badged in Australia as a Holden? Please advise me on the fitment specifications such as PCD, size and offsets.
Thanks in advance.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Grounding Kit
« on: 15 December 2010, 20:21:55 »
Is it safe to install an after market grounding kit on the Omega MV6? It says it improves flow of electricity resulting in better sensor reaction, brighter lights, etc.

TIA

How do I remove the instrument panel of a 1997 Omega MV6 to change the bulbs?

Thanks for all you comments. Does this mean that I have to clean all bulb sockets o do I do a hit-or-miss thing by replacing bulbs one or two at a time?

So in this case it will easier for me to replace the head unit and speakers with aftermaket ones....and probably install an amp too while I'm at it!  But how about the display which appears on the MID when the stereo is being used? Will I lose this?

Thanks so much for the information guys. Cheers! :)

The standard setup on the minifacelifted MV6 was the CCR600 radio cassette with the 6 CD autochanger in the boot.

Bose wasn't an option on this model, although would be a very easy option to fit (I did it to my '97 MV6) and one you could do even if the original stereo is missing as the breakers would do a complete kit of head unit, amp, changer, speakers and wiring loom.

If its a saloon then you would almost certainly end up with an Elite parcel shelf, which would contain the rear sunblind feature and fill in that empty switch position next to the heated passenger seat switch.

Thanks for the tips mate! What is installed is an SC804 casette head unit and a 6 disc cd changer. Both are Philips brand. So this car is an Elite? TIA :)
