and get your mate to join!!!!

I have asked him but he is my mates Dad and he is 75 (bless him) don't think he understands all that old interweb nonsence.

Mind you my mate is 40 and he wont come on here, sent him all the links, shown him the site but he has never joined. They are just using me as thier b!tch me thinks!!! ;D

Funny thing happened the other day as all three of us have the same elite cars. We were all travelling separately to a golf club for a game and went in convoy on the motorway, 2 black and one dark green Miggy's travelling together, I swear other motorists thought we were all plod!!  8-)

Will do Dave, reporting back on solved problems is the core reason this forum exits (to help those that are less informed, like me!)  :y

Thanks for that Dave, I understand now, I will pass on your wise thoughts.  :y

I have a friend of mine that has a 52 Reg Omega 3.2 elite with a Siemens Radio, Model No NCDC 2015. He is not an oof member (why not indeed, you and I may ask!!!)

he is having problems with his radio coming on at all sorts of strange times and VX don't know what is wrong and have washed their hands on the problem (how great they are!!  ::)) He e-mailed me the problem below: anyone got any clues

The problem is that during stand-by mode (i.e. whilst the car is parked with the ignition off) on the drive overnight and during the day, the radio system periodically activates and if the radio itself has been turned off, before turning off the ignition, when leaving the car the problem shows up by bleeping and bringing up the "Call emergency " screen for about 30 secs and then when no action is taken the system turns itself off again.    Alternatively if the radio has not been turned off, prior to switching off the engine, the radio itself turns on and plays a short section of music for instance in the same way.   Over a period of time therefore this runs down the battery and unless the car is used every other day or so, the battery eventually goes flat.

It would be great to find out what is causing this problem and if anyone has met it before and what the cure is  :y

Hi alexandjen,

Thanks for the welcome,

It does indeed have one code for radio, cass and cd but for some reason the cd says "safe mode'. I have tried everything and even those "wonderfully trained Vauxhall engineers"  ::) are scratching their collective butt cheeks and just say it needs to be replaced >:(

I do not accept that, as it is easier for them to say but not for me to do!!! I know it is a software clitch but just need to get in contact with someone that knows a bit more than Vauxhall, which I am sure I will.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Cd safe Code problem
« on: 04 December 2008, 22:13:39 »
Hi all,

New to this forum so please be gentle  ;)

Have a question that seems to have been be asked before in the past but just wanted to get some clarification on the best way forward and to see if I can get my problem sorted out in my local area.

I have a CCR2006 unit and the radio and cassette work fine but the  CD is displaying safe mode. Have taken the car to the main dealer who cannot rectify the problem and wants to charge 250 quid plus to sort it out. I realise that there have been software issues with this model but is there any way of someone rectifying the code issue?.

I am in Suffolk, does anyone know of anyone/companies that can help and if so an estimation of the costs?

Thanking you kindly in antisipation. :)

Your experience is not typical and points to something else being wrong. You nave a working ECU now, so the next step would be to get the codes read from it and find out what it's not happy with IMO.

Kevin,

Point taken mate but this is costing me more than the car is worth now so can understand the frustration!. Latest update is that the unit is back from Remann who said that they found no faults at all after they repaired it the first time. The garage has got it to fit today. I just hope that when they fit it back on the t/c light does not come on, I don't know why I am hoping for that as all the has happened is that the unit has been removed again sent to reman "again" and re-fitted again!

I don't know what to do if the light is still on, let's asume that the abs unit is repaired and all ok, does anyone know why the t/c light is still on, that first garage that looked at it before the unit went to Remann tested the sensors and all was ok, what is let to check if the light is still on? (Remann said and I quote " it may be a fuse that is blown"      :-[ oh, Pleeeeeeeeasssssssssssse!

I did do a paper clip test the day before it went in but wrote the fault on a bit of paper and "can I find that now". I will see if this third garage can get any codes come up if the t/c light is still on. If not I think a can of petrol and a match will be my cheapest option tbh , shame that a light on a dashboard can effectively write a car off, anyone want a mint 2000, 2.5 Elite with a t/c light on.  :o

Hello all - Just bought the year 2000 2.5 V6 Omega Elite Estate.

Ryan,

I feel for you mate, probably the worse thing (appart from a cam belt) to go on the car. Mine is taking me over a month now to get sorted out, cost me nearly a grand now and it is still not fixed. 3 garages don't know why after being repaired once by BBA Reman for 125 quid. The unit was sent back to reman 4 days ago and they have called me an hour ago to say that the unit is fine. WELL IF IT IS FINE THEN WHY IS THE P*XY T/C LIGHT STILL COMING ON THEN!!! >:(

I have said it before on previous posts, Vauxhall and every other mechanic knows diddly squat about these abs/ecu unit problems and just fob you off with diatribe.

Sorry, very angry today  >:(  does not help you I know but I would not wish this problem on anyone.

Not a job I've actually done but that's not a concern Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

Thanks for that LD, very kind indeed   :y I would certainly not have you done it for nothing though mate, I am sure you have better things to do  ;)

To keep you updated, I have a friend of mine up here that has given me a name of an excellent garage only a few miles away and I popped it there today as I need to get it done asap and send the unit away to Reman before the weekend. I am away on business for 3 weeks from friday of next so I only have a small window, they say they can get the unit removed by tmrw afternoon.

Fingers crossed that the saga will end and they repair it properly this time.

Cheers mate  :y
